A radiant Laura is seen at the beginning of the program in an embrace with Alex. As the session starts, Laura admits of having taken Alex to bed. What is amazing is the way the whole thing developed. She recounts with intimate details the way everything happened. Alex, according to her was not the ferocious lover she was expecting, more of a subdued passive man. Laura was quite candid about the way everything happened, but Paul appears to have been in a pensive mood. Laura confesses she broke with her boyfriend, so the wedding is off, something that did not sit well with him.
Laura felt somewhat empty because of the way Alex behaved with her during the sex act. The session takes a different turn as Laura begins questioning Paul, and in fact, she takes over the role of the therapist while he is the patient. Paul recalls his frustration in not being able to help his own mother, something that because of his young age, did not go too well.
Laura had told Paul of her own experience dealing with her mother's own illness. She had always look forward to enjoying her cheese cake, which her mother always prepared on Fridays. Because of her condition, her mother stopped doing a lot of things because it was painful for her to do anything. All her memories were triggered on the night she was with Alex, and after he left, she wanted to go back to something familiar, in her case, the cheese cake, but not having anything to make it with, she decided to go to sleep.
As Laura is leaving, Paul catches her meeting Alex out front. He has come to give her a ride home. Alex and Laura embrace again and kiss, while Paul, who has gone to the window, is seen spying on them. Laura, noticing him, kisses Alex while looking straight at him.
Chris Misiamo directed this episode which was written by Amy Lippman. Both Melissa George goes through an amazing range of emotions in this chapter, giving a credible account of her confused character. Gabriel Byrne has some good moments.
