What Is Out There? (2007)

*** (out of 4)

Keir Dullea hosts this twenty minute documentary that is described as taking a look at the philosophical themes seen in Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY. Dullea opens the show stating that Kubrick would never discuss the meanings of his movies but we do get some theories discussed as to what the film is about. We get some archival interviews with both Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke, which were fascinating to see. Fans of the movie will certainly want to check this out for the interviews but the featurette isn't nearly as deep or thoughtful as it thinks it is. I'd argue that it's not nearly as entertaining as it should be, although it is well-produced.
