After a poor pilot episode, which to be fair had some fans on here. The BBC commissioned this to a full series.

Star and co-writer Tom Davis said in an interview that he would like King Gary to be thought off in the same way as sitcoms such as Fleabag or Only Fools and Horses.

Well I thought this was as funny as a man screaming in agony in the accident & emergency department of a hospital who has had his wedding tackle chewed out by a couple of rabid rottweilers.

Gary King once again shows that he does not have his father's skills with his inept way of dealing with a worker in his building site who drinks too much and does silly pranks.

Gary's middle aged wife tries too hard with impressing people by wearing designer slippers and borrowing a Range Rover when their son goes on a date.

Now I am sure there is a way to make these type of characters funny, but Tom Davis has not discovered it. The only decent characterisation I came across in this was Winkle played by Neil Maskell.

Just look at the scene at the end when Gary's dad comes over to sort out the prankster builder. We do not hear what the dad said to him so we have no way of knowing just how good his dad is to sort out trouble.
