Ok.
amerhalasa10 August 2022
The idea of the film (brining the three women together under one roof) is great but it was executed poorly. The best part of the film was Juliet Awwad's performance. I was hoping that Rania Kurdi's performance would get better as the story moved forward, but unfortunately it got worse to the point where it got embarrassing. She basically based the character on a mix of previous comedic characters she played and it was very, very, bad.

The twist in the film could have been hidden and withheld better, rather than having it partially exposed in one of the dialogues ahead of its time.

It was an okay experience overall.

an arab classic

A comfort movie with a great plot and amazing acting.

I have been thinking about this movie since watching it, the cinematography of Amman is absolutely amazing, it perfectly captures the city and its mundanity,i really gravitated towards the characters and the hardships they went through,to see all female leads in an arab movie is something very special.

Lackluster characters and storyline
emp-naval11 July 2022
Salma's Home offers one dimensional, shallow characters, who all succeed in nothing but being nauseatingly stereotypical and cliché.

Unfortunately, the plot is just as boring and predictable to the point that you can almost foretell the entire storyline within the first 5 minutes.

Jordanian cinema has one again proven that it might have the technical skills to make something pretty, but still has not even begun the journey to writing interesting content.

A True Reflection of Reality!

Warning: Spoilers
This film really covers it all, the true reality of the Arab society reflecting on classism, the lazy husband, the widow mum straggling to live comfortably, the wife running from her reality of depression by drinking secretly and the fake influencer straggling to mingle in a society that she does not fit in. A dark comedy filled with a deep meaning of family, friendship and love. Beautiful shots of Amman the Capital of Jordan, the close ups on faces and the great acting. It makes me happy to see such a beautiful art piece from an Arab female filmmaker! Simple with a strong message..!

A great emotional cocktail

It's bitter and sweet and also really funny. Women reinventing solidarity and community. This feels so grounded and full of real pathos. Want to see more like this!!

A must see!

Beautiful storyline and excellent cinematography. Characters really resonated with me, any woman can relate to these women. Excited to see what comes next from this director. Saw it at Austin Film Festival which never disappoints. If you only see one film this year, definitely see this film. Really authentic story that is a good mix of comedy and drama. Great to see a mostly female cast. I've seen many films this year but this one really moved me. To see such strong and powerful female characters is always a treat. I know we're going to see more amazing films from this director. Truly beautiful story.

What a lovely movie!
mariavonsydow21 October 2022
I was watching this at the Malmö Arab Film Festival (in Sweden) and I was so taken by the characters and their stories. Watching the movie surrounded by people who knew the setting and was laughing with recognition or sighing with despair made the characters and the culture come to life even more. It is a story that celebrates the strength of women, but it also tells about every day life, the past and the present, love, the complexity of parenting and much more. This movie brought joy and light to my heart. Especially the little boy who so often smiles against the camera (since he is the producer's baby boy) adds an extra dimension of warmth. I really recommend it for all to see, and we need more of movie's like this as a counterweight to the perfection of Hollywood. Well done to all involved!

Spectacular!

I truly loved it. I did not expect that quality and that real dialogue. I cried few times and I laughed much more.

The acting is so real. Rania Kurdi is being the legend she is. Juliet Awad is history. Farah was an amazing actor, she is so real.

Amazing Plot
jabalyfares22 July 2022
Spending a life time watching foreign films, the hard part was to find a good plot, a very strong story, and this movie sure have it.

The thing that I enjoy is how the three women demolish the borders between them, in other words the plot on how the demolish happened, it have this . . . The way the scenes turns to, and with the Jordan atmosphere, i'm very pleased I got the chance to see it, looking to see more.

Beautifully filmed and acted

Warning: Spoilers
Three women with completely different personalities come head to head. I loved the way it showed up-close the different ways people come to understand each other -- the little gestures, the everyday accidents, the avoided conversations and the confrontations -- that can turn enmities into friendships and community. Rania Kurdi was superb as the self-absorbed Lamia I loved to hate, and Juliet Awwad as (my and everyone's) mother, Salma. I can't wait to see your other films! I especially loved the way you used the close-ups to draw us into the personal interactions and the long shots to place all of these characters in their city.
