An interesting small buget look on the complexity of love and sex
timvandenbranden966 January 2021
This series offers us an insight in the life of the young Danish woman Cathrine. She has a boyfriend, Simon and she works at a sex helpline. Ironically her own sex life falls short. This offers the starting point for the humble and intimous storyline of the series.

'Sex' succeeds in making us part of the up-and-downs of a realistic love relationship. With especially great acting of lead actrice Asta Kamma August. Although not every episode is sharp enough and the episodes are sometimes too short (~15min) to fully support the rythm of the storyline.

However, this series stands out with some great cinematography that is just enough balanced for the simple and low budget story. 7/10 good, but not great.

Poor imitation of Sex and the City

Warning: Spoilers
Sex (2020- ), directed by Amalie Næsby Fick, is a seven-episode Scandinavian soap opera. The female lead works at a (serious) sex hotline. People call with sexual problems, and she tries to help them with real answers. OK--so far not bad.

The only problem is that her boyfriend has lost sexual interest in her. No one knows why. A sex therapist doesn't help. No one every even considers the fact that he could be gay!

The whole series has a patched together low-budget look and feel. It was shown in the otherwise excellent Rochester ImageOut LGBTQ Film Festival. The movie has an anemic 6.7 rating. I didn't think it was that good. I rated it 5.

Warning: Spoilers
Wealthier, more corrupt "master" is a recurring motif in The Kite Runner, and Amir and Baba's feelings of guilt for their betrayals drive much of the novel's action. The central betrayal comes when Amir watches and does nothing as Hassan, who has always stood up for Amir in the past, gets raped by Assef. Amir then worsens the betrayal by driving Ali and Hassan from the household. Later in the book, Amir learns that Baba also betrayed his own best friend and servant - Ali, Hassan's father - by fathering a child (Hassan) with Ali's wife Sanaubar. This knowledge comes as another kind of betrayal for Amir, who had always hero-worshipped Baba and is shocked to learn of his father's flaws.
