Oh so close
BandSAboutMovies4 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Maddie (Caitlin Gerard, Insidious: The Last Key, who co-wrote this movie) and her twin sister Abigail (also played by Caitlin Gerard) are the only two people to survive meeting The Mechanic (Kane Hodder, forever Jason, forever awesome). As Maddie wakes from a nightmare of their encounter -- filled with blood, scrawled penatgrams and terror -- she learns that he's due to die tonight. Her sister won't answer the phone and she keeps remember the night The Mechanic towed her mother along with her and her sister away into the night.

As Maddie explains to her therapist what happened in her past, her sister is breaking into the garage of The Mechanic and having visions of him. Before you know it, people start dying and the sisters are suspects, but the way that movie bounces between today and yesterday, reality and fantasy, it's often hard to figure out exactly what's going on.

The idea of a tow truck driver who kills the people he's supposed to help, much less one that uses the occult to bring the victims who escaped him into his mind, is a great one. If you're hiring someone to play that killer, Kane Hodder is the perfect person. And that's where the movie runs out of gas, sadly, when it's where it should get started.

I've watched hundreds of giallo movies and if I say something is an incoherent mess, this is coming from someone that usually celebrates incoherent messes.

Director Vanessa Alexander has only made this one movie, which was written by Jesse Mittelstadt (Across the Hall, No Escape Room). There's something in here, buried deep, and there's definitely some style in the way that cinematographers Chris Faulisi and Pedja Radenkovic (who also shot Danzig's Death Rider In the House of Vampires) have filmed this. It just needs to get the flashbacks, well, flashed back and move on to the actual story, in the actual timeline, and get out of its own way.

So confusing...
XueHuaBingYu27 July 2022
What did I just watch? The film is not that good. The plot is weird and so confusing. The presentation seems to be a bit messy. The acting is a bit off. So, to say it overall, it's not a good film. Still, I can't believe that I watched the whole thing. When the film ended, I even said is that all? It really has a lot of flaws Thus, it doesn't make a good one to enjoy.

Don't watch it if you don't want to. But if you want to, watch it at your own risk.

Not Great...
gab-6759919 July 2022
As a fan of horror movie genre I had to see this one. Tubi has come out with a few ok movies in the past but this was just not one of them. They tried but the movie felt messy and confusing. The lead was just not interesting enough to care about, not to mention her acting abilities were average at BEST! I recommend any other movie over this one. It was just not worthy of anyone's time.

I'll see you in my Dreams
nogodnomasters31 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Abi and Maddie survived "The Mechanic" (Kane Hodder) serial killer as children. Twenty years later the occultist is going to be put to death. They are both having vivid dreams about him leading up to this time and suspect he is planning something in death. They are afraid of going to sleep because they might die.

Sounds similar to Freddie or the 1959 "Twilight Zone" episode, "Perchance to Dream." The story doesn't have too much of a build up. Didn't get to know the characters well enough to care if they died or not. Ending twist was nice, but done before. Film ends when it finally has your interest.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Welcome to Bore Fest
ryleilove16 July 2023
This is one of the most uninteresting, slow paced because we're really going nowhere, bore fest movies ever. I mean what the hec did I watch and why...no HOW did I suffer through?

I see others were confused by this movie but I wasn't. I got the just of it, followed what was going on even while scrolling IMDB reading the reviews and on YouTube. I also fell asleep for part of the movie and when I woke up checked to see how much longer it had because it seemed like it was on forever. This was truly a waste of my time and my recommendation is to watch at your own risk. Maybe for some movies like this is interesting but I was bored out of my mind. I am a stickler for finishing what I start though I think one or two movies I made it through the first 5 min. Idk why this was an exception. I think I was waiting for a major plot twist or grand reveal but nothing. Just ugh. Two for the effort and time put into it because I respect the creativity of others even if it's not my cup of tea, otherwise it would be a negative score.

A MESS
kskmah18 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
First of if you call the killer, Mechanic when he drives a tow truck you know something is wrong. Shouldn't he be called the tow truck driver? Most tow truck dirvers are not mechanics. LOL. This movie is one big mess of dreams and reality which made no sense. I didn't understand most of the movie and in the end it doesn't even matter. Kane Hodder was just in it for a paycheck.

Don't waste the time!
obi_wan_kenobi_UKR23 July 2022
Well, I looked at this picture and I have a few words to say.

In general, the idea is quite widespread and not brilliant, but an authentic execution and approach to the matter could make the movie much more interesting. And so we see a rather unhurried and monotonous unfolding of events.

The project positions itself as a horror, but it cannot offer anything in this field. Everything is very, very bad. A minimum of blood and a maximum of brutal standing of the Mechanic in a pulled hood. It is not attractive.

It is not worth talking about the acting of the actors, because it cannot be flawless in such a film. The heroine plays the same facial expressions and look for most of the film, although she plays the role of both twin sisters.

Advice from a humble movie buff: don't waste your time, there's nothing to catch here.)

Similarity to the sandman
dominiakalyssa19 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Don't know if anyone has seen the Candyman but Tow is so similar to candyman. Both main characters both turn into the killer. Never going to watch this movie again.

Not a good movie..
mayadjhamilton11 March 2024
I'm a big fan of horror/ slasher movies, I read about this movie and gave it a go, I was very disappointed in the film. The acting was terrible, it looked like some kids made a movie for a school project.. and it felt rushed.

It was also confusing. I do not recommend this movie at all. My partner and I ended up just watching the movie for the laughs.

I did have hope in this movie to get better but it kept getting worse and worse to the point you just sit there and think wtf is this. And I must say it was boring too, if you do end up watching this movie don't get your hopes up to be a good movie.

A solid horror film.
kanankoipi-5619721 July 2022
Not too bad, maybe you'd expect more with Kane Hodder, but this aside, a balanced mixture of slash, gore and psychological guessing for the viewer, nothing too extreme.

An underwhelming slasher that should've been far better
kannibalcorpsegrinder14 March 2023
Trying to reconnect with her sister, a woman's trip to visit her is interrupted by talk of a returning killer from their childhood coming back to haunt her, and after setting out to find out if he exists runs into the actual killer and must find a way to stop his brutal rampage to save her sister.

This was a generally fun and entertaining effort. Among the more entertaining aspects of this one comes from the engaging setup that provides a great starting point for what's to come. Getting in-depth with the issues of childhood trauma that were levied at the hands of the initial encounter and how it applies to their current lives creates a fantastic setting here. Involving quite a lot of interesting supernatural elements here with the dreams and flashbacks to previous encounters allows these to come together rather nicely for an overall solid setup. As well, this one also serves quite well with the general brutality applied to the interactions with the killer. Adding an intriguing occult bent to everything involving the symbols and various Satanic goings-on around his activities, this adds quite a lot to like with the series of encounters featured here. The back-and-forth stalking on display where they capture his attention, leading to some impressive and eerie confrontations that generate some gruesome kills and brutal moments. Combined with some nice pacing to keep this from being boring, there's a lot to like here. This one does have some big issues to be had here. The main drawback to this one comes from one of the most inherently confusing and outright problematic senses of coherence regarding what's going on at what point in point. Since this one flips back and forth in time between the past, the sisters' encounter with the killer, the events leading to the killer's capture, the present day, and at least several other points in time, it's nearly impossible to figure out what's going on. Telling this in a linear fashion is a far more noteworthy and effective way to figure out the story here. The other issue here, a byproduct of the films' incredibly confusing setup, is that there's hardly anything known about the killer or their motivation for doing anything. Since the main purpose of the killer's mission is a bizarre occult angle featuring a mysterious symbol and a form of body-swapping regarding the killer possessing bodies to carry out a rampage of some kind, that's all guesswork and badly hinted at anyway which all told really comes together with the other factor to lower this one.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence and Graphic Language.
