It is said that life is nothing without love and love doesn’t happen going by someone’s caste and religion. But in India, especially Hindu-Muslim couples have to face discrimination, harassment and suffer mental agony even at the hands of their loved ones.
This film brings an important lesson about respecting other’s religion and allowing lovers to choose their own fate; but nowhere does the films get preachy, and that is the best part of ‘Shubh Nikah’.
The film will linger on in one’s mind for long enough, making it difficult to forget. It is not only a shining example of cinema with a purpose but it is equally a very entertaining film.

Actor Amit Sial, who plays politician both in the recently released second season of ‘Mahrani’ and the upcoming Netflix series ‘Jamtara 2’, has shared how he maintained the line of difference between both the politician characters in the shows.

There’s a degree of irony in the fact that Netflix unscripted dating show “Indian Matchmaking,” the most distinctly Indian content to originate from a platform aggressively expanding operations in India, was commissioned out of Los Angeles, rather than Mumbai.

It didn’t help optics that content execs Swati Shetty and Simran Sethi opted to resign rather than be based in Mumbai. They were replaced eventually by Monica Shergill in 2019, who joined existing director of originals Srishti Behl Arya. Around this time, “Indian Matchmaking” executive producer Smriti Mundhra’s documentary “A Suitable Girl,” which she co-directed with Sarita Khurana,...
