VIEWS ON FILM review of Mile High Escorts
burlesonjesse528 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
"We don't come looking for them, they come looking for us". Ah, sounds like someone is persuading someone else to sell their sleek body for a little ready money.

Anyway, Mile High Escorts is my latest write-up. It's about a young woman and her friend who take jobs at an escort service only to find out that the owner of said service is a workmanlike killer. Oh and private jet departures to Paris (and back) are involved.

Mile High Escorts should not be confused with Deadly Mile High Club except for the fact that they are both Lifetime endeavors. They also both have mediocre hammy acting, squat production values, and some signature campy residue. The funniest thing about "Escorts" minus its desperate title, is that during the female companion flights you never see a freaking pilot. Automatic perhaps? Uh I don't think so.

Mile High Escorts which does contain a few tense moments, never quite "takes off" as a hokey thriller (ha-ha). The film putts around while globetrotting through Kentucky, Michigan, Maine, France, and Amsterdam (sans a few aerial shots, everything was probably shot on one location).

"Escorts" takes a while to unfold and when it does, everything feels a little anti-climatic and blase. Basically the flick trades dramatic momentum and pimped seriousness for kooky dialogue exchanges and pretty faces. Heck, besides a few smooches, some flattery, some wine and dine, and some Brut champagne, there isn't really any "mile highness" involved (that means hanky-panky on a plane, duh).

"Escorts", with its characters beamed across the Atlantic in true "where no man has gone before" approach, concludes with a small twist and murders by way of stabbings, shootings, and head trauma. And in veracious Lifetime fashion, everything turns out okay about six months later. Yup, it's fille de joie minus the "fill". Rating: 2 stars.

Drivel

It's sad that someone bankroll this fluff ball of a film. Ridiculous premise, bad acting, Their production values are good but wasted on a terrible script.

Terrible acting, thin plot
mollyliz-1269220 July 2020
Wow, this movie is scraping the bottom of the barrel, even for lifetime. Lead female is some of the worst acting I've seen. Come on, lifetime, embarrassing!

There are so many problems with this movie
casablancavic9 January 2021
Having lauren being implicated in an international crime makes this movie much more of a problem than she could even imagine.

First, there will be issues brought on by the FAA in regards to safety and having weapons such as knives and guns being brought through customs.

Then Lauren is earning thousands of undeclared taxable dollars and Euros while working as an international escort. With her being in such an incident, this brings in problems for not only herself but all of the airline employees.

Then Lauren will be a suspect not only in the murder of the 2 men in paris, but also a suspect in the death of the owner and the disappearance of the manager. Her legal problems will not allow her to travel to France to study because her passport will be revoked until the courtcase(s) are finished and because there are multiple deaths and income (business and personal) to deal with - this will continue for several years and will involve numerous countries - therefor her ability to travel will be restricted until all matters are dealt with and that would not happen within 6 months.

Lauren's recorded audio tape will not be admissable in any court proceedings as the other parties involved were not notified that they were being recorded. Not only that, but the recordings could have been tampered with or manufactured to create false evidence.

The airport radio tower should have been aware of what was happening on the tarmac with the shootings and stabbings and they weren't - proving that security at the airport was very poor. For such high profile clients to not be having sufficient security at the airport brings in all sorts of legal issues.

When Lauren's hours were cut while working as a steward, she didn't raise any questions or bring up any issues with her union representatives. She would have been entitled to additional income or offered alternative work routes. She also had a good case for a legal employment court case.

Lauren was too anxious to turn to work as an escort without considering other types of employment. It seems that Lauren always was considering this line of work without any issue - otherwise she would have called other companies or considered other work and sought out other employment.

Having met the agency owner for only 3 or 4 minutes, how can she state that she was sorry for his passing? She did not become aquainted with him other than answering a few questions.

While she was left at the terminal after giving the child back the bear, she could have called the hotel for a pickup.

She was too eager to accept the men's money and even counted it with her back turned to a client - this meant that she was now geared solely towards money and that was her main objection.

In such a short time span, Lauren changed her entire persona and went after material gains.

This was not a good movie and it's very sad that Lifetime Movies like this are being made to influence young women.

Lauren was a cause of many problems, but this movie made it seem like she was the victim or had nothing to do with the problems. Her friend followed through with the usual related work and saw no problems - until she met a client who had a problem with Lauren...

Lauren is certainly not a responsable woman who uses her brains. She is too short sighted and seeks immediate short term gains.

"I'm Tired of Being a Victim"
lavatch26 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
"Mile High Escorts" (a.k.a., "Secrets in the Air") is a cautionary tale about victimhood. As Lauren is struggling to make ends meet as a part-time flight attendant, she decides to take a job as an elite flight "concierge." The job description: "destination dates."

The concierge work includes offering hospitality and creature comforts to male clients as part of a high-priced small jet operation shuttling the clients primarily between the United States and Europe. Lauren and her bestie Ashley are recruited by the "madam" Hannah, who introduces them to Andrew, the head of the operation.

Andrew is a kind employer who has a generous set of ground rules for his employees. His goal is to create "a safe, empowering, and lucrative environment." But when his maniacal son Eric murders his father and takes over the operation, Lauren will now be subjected to potential abuse and exploitation.

After falling in love with Thomas, one of her clients, Lauren wants to get out of the concierge work. But the paranoid Eric is afraid she may turn him into the police, so Lauren becomes expendable.

The best scene in the film was when Hannah stood up to Eric and put him in his place. Unfortunately, for Hannah, she is killed by Eric, but not before recording a video to warn Lauren, whom she has come to know as a daughter.

The closing scenes were highly melodramatic guns and daggers drawn in an airport hanger. "Mile High Secrets" did not have a romantic ending like "Casablanca." Rather, it was a stretch to somehow believe that Lauren found the overall experience "empowering." As in one of Frank Sinatra's famous songs, Lauren admits that through all the pain and suffering, she is proud that she did it "her way."

Plot holes GALORE
deedrala30 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Plot holes abound in this 'movie' - to name just a few:

  • why didn't Eric pull the trigger in all the time it took Lauren to fetch her knife from her thigh and stab him with it? He had the gun pointed at her and had plenty of time and opportunity to shoot her, but he didn't and there was no reason not to other than the standard unbending rule of Lifetime movies that the lead actress must always survive to the happy ending.

  • even though all the people who were stabbed in the lower stomach in Lifetime movies over the past decade all survived, Thomas died.

  • why didn't Lauren grab her phone and call for help for Thomas instead of just letting him die while she sat there with him?

  • no way would Lauren have so easily gotten by as long as she did just being a dinner date for the rich clients when they thought they were paying for sex. And it was never made clear if her friend Ashley was doing the same thing or was giving her clients what they actually paid for.

  • Hannah wouldn't have gotten to Lauren in Amsterdam right after the incident with Paul took place. It would've been at least the next day since she had to fly there from the U.S.

  • Hannah should've known better than to turn her back on Eric after defying him and then threatening him.

  • Lauren and Ashley were initially portrayed as clean-cut college girls with morals and self respect, but then they both fell so easily into prostitution without even a second thought, as if it was a regular everyday job.

Not the absolute dregs of bad Lifetime flicks like some I've seen, but nowhere near some of the best either.

I'm so sick of these actress and actors that do not know NOTHING about the world.
tubetoby21 July 2020
Acting companies have to stop to lie about their really hard and stressfull methods to mold the "perfect" actors and actress, when there are people like saxon sharbino out there. How can those companies be serious and accept someone like saxon? Just take a look at her youtube channel; It's childish, pity, and almost trash. And there... you can see all her acting skills at work, it's not a joke, her acting level is the same of her videos. If you all wanna educate someone, start with educate these boys and girls from the rich neighborhoods, which about the world, do not know NOTHING. they are too spoil to understand how things are, and this is reflected even in their acting skills.

Surprisingly good movie
Chartreuse121 July 2020
Lauren becomes a flight attendant but is not happy with her domestic bids as she is new to the job. So, she meets up with Hannah who introduces her to glamorous new world and European flights by spending time with rich male passengers as an escort. Trouble is she gets in over her head and has to escape after Hannah is murdered. Will she get out in time? You will have to tune in to find out. Saxon Sharbino shines in this unusual Lifetime movie with a great , believable script. Highly recommended!

Miles high escort movie
xena4004 July 2021
I found this movie, I want to say boring at some points because the context of the movie doesn't go with the dog eat dog kill or be killed law of the wild in certain areas of society in reality. The fact that the girl goes from a cheating boyfriend to an escort is quite frankly stupid and defines the meaning of a typical uneducated woman who blames others for screwing them over yet will commit the same act for the sake of selling themselves to the point where people similar to me will define them with "Right, you enjoyed it? You need to prove it before I pay you for the flight, you say I'm a nice guy yet you can't wait to get rid of me, yet you'll welcome the huge amount of money." The thing I find entertaining is if I gave them counterfeit, they'd get angry yet they'd begin lying to you because their mentality is as fake as the counterfeit. The ending is sorta a flip coin. The guy was angry yet decided on the wrong path because he didn't get what he wanted. Although it was a blessing in disguise that the son was whacked at the end of it. The mentality of both girls was lack of self esteem while also the unfortunate mentality of what the other woman said claiming that the women didn't owe them a thing yet they do to when you pay them to a certain extent (It doesn't count rape.) The punchline of the movie is with my resentment and disappointment is the guy and the woman "Thinking" they love one another. Really? I'm no prude to real intimacy, it'll take a woman to be human and educated to gain my affection, which is why only one woman is worthy of me with doing European women because of their mentality. To be humorous about it, the only way I'd use a mile high plane is to fly home to New York to escape myself from beating the blank out of a tsa and security in self defense if I were uncontrollable because they decided to physically slander me. I'd rather fly in a mile high if I knew I was going to be uncontrollable.

Can I get this job?
Take the Britney Spears "Toxic" music video filmed on a Lifetime budget and add some female empowerment. You've got this movie. Over all very fun.

Great actresses
DavidSKS20 July 2020
I was overjoyed to see Christina Moore in a leading role. I loved her when during her guest appearances as Ross family matriarch Christina on Disney Channel's "Jessie (plus one on "Bunk'd").. Saxon Sharbino was great yet again. Just wish her younger sister, Brighton, would have played her sister in the movie, but Ella Frazee was fine nonetheless. Hope to see more of her.

I won't give away the plot. Watch it for yourself. I loved it.

Disgusting!
haroot_azarian21 November 2021
Yet another movie promoting the degrading of women. Absolutely disgusting!!!!! The idea that women would do anything for money seems like a popular subject with LMN script writers! So Lauren is hungry for money and her friend Ashley loves to screw around for money!!!

Wasn't a 1000% but loved it!
brenbean10 October 2020
Look, I am a sucker for a silly movie that may portray some fantasy life... this hits all the boxes on that.... I didn't hate it tho! The acting wasn't going to win any awards... but for some reason it made me happy and hopeful.... if you knew the life I have lived, this may make more sense... but ish like this does happen.... so hey, I liked it.
