One of the best Indie 'Brit Crime' Films of the Decade

I'm not going to lie, its fairly clear from the start that this great little movie is indeed an Indie movie...but that works to its advantage as this is Brit crime at its best. I say Brit crime and not 'Gangster' movie because this shouldn't be categorized with the Guy Richie style movies, and why should it? we've seen enough of this 'lets glamorize criminals' style already, 'Loose End' shows them in the best, true light...Low down and god damn dirty! Loose End is a well crafted, excellently written and superbly shot movie with strong actors (the strongest being Damian Morter, Anthony Morter and Scott Livingstone) and a good score.I was also impressed with how real and hard hitting the violence and fighting was in this movie. People say I'm too easy on independent films, that's not true. I find it hard to be 'gripped' and 'thrilled' by a film that cost 80million, so I'm extremely praising of a film that succeeded in this when the film cost virtually nothing. and that's the point that most 'indie haters' miss completely. Watch this film, its definitely a European festival hit and would find a fine market on DVD. I'm pretty sure this could pull in an award, even if its for the the script alone, which is very clever. Morter Does a fine job on all roles he takes in this movie and I look forward to seeing more work from him. If this is his first film then he really has succeeded here. I couldn't find too much information on him but I hope he makes more, also maybe in other Genres, but I could easily watch a whole trilogy of 'Brit Crime' films of his. Thanks for reading this review, coming from an honest Joe who isn't even into British or Criminal based films.

Entertaining and stylish little indie thriller

I watched this little film on dailymotion when it was featured a few months ago, yes it is uber low budget and by going on the credits made solely by one guy, but I found it really well done and it did keep me gripped until the very end. The plot is very simple and pays obvious homage to classic films like "A fistful of dollars" "Night of the Hunter" having a very modern western feel, but when I say modern the film does feel very seventies in its "style" which it does have a lot of. The characters were very likable or dislikeable depending on their role and mostly well acted. The standout character is the lead "JACK" whose cold presence is overshadowed only by his cockney wit, making him quite vicious but comical at the same time. The camera work was more to be desired but judging by the list of camera operators at the end credits consisted mainly of other cast, it seems the director was pretty well short staffed, so there are a few lighting issues and shaky moments, but it does add some charm. All in all I really liked it and watched it a couple of times when it was featured and it definitely made me nostalgic of those classic seventies and eighties action/thriller movies.

A very good first offering.

Loose End is a low budget revenge film about a criminal who is double crossed, left for dead and robbed of his money...even though the premise has been done over and over, I don't think the director cared and the result was a very tight, well scripted little film. The main character of JACK (played by director Damian Morter) was extremely easy to like, he is good looking, has a deep Smokey voice and a charisma about him that made me really enjoy watching. There were other talented first timers here too, including Anthony Morter (Directors' father) as villain "EVANS". The film itself is entertaining and well scripted, some of the camera work is shaky and was definitely sot with no money, but everyone must start somewhere and after watching "LOOSE END" I checked into the director who has a film coming out next year called "BICYCLE DAY" and I must say the trailer looks amazing! Keep an eye out for Damian Morter!!

I heard from actors on set that Damian tried to bum fuq them several times, and forced a burmese cat to lick his coq.

Jesus fuqing Christ this movie blows. I almost had an aneurysm after watching it.

Loose Bell Ends it should be called.
