Its a crime series at level with nowadays crime summary series , which follows the same checklist every time. though thats a drawback, some of the episodes has some deep cheststinging parts that may make you think twice especially on the people that has lost a close member.

valley of the damned, the prison valley etc, does not nescesseraly mean that all cases are conected to a prison,or prisoner and there are sometimes a glitch done by the producers filing up all the bad prisons and prisoners held in the valley. im sure its not the best environment to live nearby. the grumpy old man enjoys this serie anyway.

It's ok, but ridiculous comment in promos
firemanbob26 September 2019
Disclosure: I live in the vicinity of the "Village of the Damned", which is basically the area around Canon City, Florence and Penrose, Colorado. They're all nice little towns, and yes, there are a number of prisons nearby, including a federal supermax. During the promos for the show, the host, local news paper reporter Tracy Harmon says "before there were prisons, there were very few murders". This is a patently ridiculous comment. The presence of prisons doesn't affect the crime rate in the area, which is actually very low. Harmon doesn't back up her comments, and in the episodes I've watched so far, none of the stories are related directly to the prisons nearby. The first episode does tell the story of the murder of the head of the Colorado Department of Corrections by a paroled Colorado prisoner, but it's not clear that he spent time in any of the facilities in the "Valley of the Damned" (Colorado has other prisons in other parts of the state). While the show is pretty decent, the presence of prisons has not been shown in the series to have anything to do with any of the murders there, despite Harmon's laughable assertion in the shows promos.

Misleading, only 1st case associated with the prisons.

Disappointed in the show. Little to do with the prisons. To me it's quite boring. No where near as good as Joe Kenda Homicide Hunter from nearby Colorado Springs. He's retiring, sorry to see that. Going to miss his show.

Lacking a lot of information...

...and this is covered up by constantly repeating points over and over.

I dislike documentaries that use this technique to fill time up in episodes. Each episode literally spends up to 10 minutes recapping things after commercial breaks.

There were many things that could have been shown instead. In one episode alone they could have explained if the wife of a victim was sharing things with police? Or how a killer had obtained an extensive list of addresses? They don't even bother. Instead the same points a re-shown several times in letters and black screen.

The show looks great but it is unwatchable due to the ridiculous and loud background noise.

I will not give it a 1 but most definitely watching Joe is DEFINITELY 10,000,000,000 times better than this just saying at least he is definitely interesting and keeps you on your toes the whole time crazy to think as a cop he only had a handful of cases he didn't solve yet...and to the one who likes watching Lt. Joe Kenda better he started a new show on Discovery+ I'm not sure what else it's on :))...as for this show I definitely still am watching it now but it is just one I can't watch to often because of the repetition that it has and it sounds like it doesn't obviously give all the information it should compared to what the internet gives you. I agree it is probably a fine place to live. I have lived in a rough area before...and trust me the jail's didn't make it that way!
