Very Fitting

Saw this episode today (June 14, 2020). We are currently in the midst of protesting against racial injustice. This episode hit the nail in the head for then and now. "The Talk" is real. The "Rage" is real. Very good episode.
Right on topic for June 2020

Warning: Spoilers
Watching here in the U.K. June 2020. Right when the injustices are coming into the forefront of people's minds, right when people are coming together across the world as allies. This episode covers a major point that people of colour are treated differently and they do have to have "the talk" with their children and be mindful that not all people in authority, like cops are the good guys.
As for Buck well what did he think was going to happen?? I thought Howies reaction to the caps past was a bit childish. Anthenas reaction was well written.
In all a good episode
A very apt episode for our times

Even though this was released in the US in October this episode couldn't be any more topical.
The fear of Athena's family resonated from the screen - well done 911.
You'll have upset a few people but well done.... Well done 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Great episode

This episode brought awareness to the Black Lives Matter Movement and its such a great episode to watch especially if you yourself are black or if you need to educate your children on this police brutality matter. I think this episode was extremely necessary and watching it for the first time in 2022 it was interesting to see it aired months before George Floyd it goes it show you this has alway ls been a problem.
Cliches galore.

Michael's advice applies to ALL citizens

Warning: Spoilers
The older cop was a bully, and a bigot, and paired with a rookie. That's a scary partnership and they overreacted. But, what Michael said to Harry should be advice to all young people, and especially to young men. I'm an older white female, and I would react to any police officer exactly as Michael suggested.
And, Lena - enough with the fill in for Buck, who treated his friends shamefully, and still doesn't understand why they're so hurt - is leading Eddie down the wrong path, and he's foolishly following. His behavior is irresponsible and just plain stupid.
And, don't get me started on Maddie's vigilantism. Please, writers, get back to what made this show the best that I've binged since Enterprise (2001).

Poor Buck.

This episode made eveyone on the team but Buck look really bad. That poor boy just wanted his family back and they pretty much spat in his face.
And don't even let me start with Eddie. That boy needs some swift kick in the butt and some serious profesional help. And it's really high time to get rid of Lena. That whole character and storyline is so very forced. I just fast forward all her scenes.
The really good part of the episode and the only reqson I gave it any stars at all was the story line with Michael, the kids and the cops. So scary, so real, so well made and acted.
I wish the rest od the episode was at least a fifth that good. But it didn't even come close. The best scene from that was the hearing that put the the whole thing and the high horse Bobby is riding into quite an unfavorable perspective. The lawyer really grew on me.
They need to get their groove back stat.

Ridiculous plot lines

Warning: Spoilers
So much wrong with this episode. Bucks plot line made him look like a naive 15 year old. Lena's character is going downhill fast. Started out promising. Her stature, build and strength is exactly the type of women who are firefighters. But then they put her in a fight ring with a dude with at least 6 inches on her and he never even got in one punch. BS! I'm not saying she couldn't take a man down. She'd give any dude a run for his money. But a huge dude who has trained for a fight? Nope, not happening. And definitely not like that! If she's fast she'll hold her own for a few minutes. But he's going to get in some punches, guaranteed! And in the end he'd have her KO'd. That is proven by the men who are currently participating in women's athletics/fighting and breaking records, and faces LITERALLY. Women are actually getting the s#*+ kicked out of them by men in the fighting ring because those dudes feel like women, total garbage. Stop trying to pretend that women are the same as men. They're not. And that's a good thing. Women are absolutely strong, but in different ways. Whatever happened to women being proud of their uniqueness? I'm disappointed Rousy herself didn't call out the writers on this bogus plot line. She should know better than try to perpetuate this lie that a ripped woman could take down a ripped dude and no punches landing from him. I guess if people want to see that then more power to you. But I'm done. I'm fine going somewhere else for entertainment. Have fun in fantasy world.
Not worth watching

I thought this series was about 9-1-1, the work of the police, the fire fighters, but apparently Fox has chosen to jump on the social justice bandwagon and turns the series into a soap opera or rather lets it continue to be that. It doesn't matter, that they make the work of the police more difficult and dangerous. What would have happened if the person in the back seat, would not have been a kid and what happens the next time when this officer does not pull out his gun and is shot because he now is intimidated. Is Fox going to send a delegation to his funeral. Shame on you Fox. Disney is not working out well for you!

They almost had me...

Warning: Spoilers
But the moment the father had the talk empathizing on his son being « black », like it was an achievement of its own, they just lost me. And I was disappointed to see it becoming another « get revenge » tale, with Athena's kids clearly planning on posting the video. Which makes for believable writing, as you can see in the comment section. With some fools not even understanding the core message of the episode. But I hope this run of the mill storyline, won't be dragged on too long... On a different note, I loved the part where these snowflake activists, got stuck on the slaughter house machinery. It was funny and very satisfying...
