I was there!

I was an 11 year old audience member of this particular show. I was one of 50 winners of the Beech Nut Name the Puppet Contest. The puppet was used in the live Beech-Nut Spearmint Gum commercials during the show. I sat front row center and my real only memory was staring up at Lloyd Price lip-syncing Stagger Lee. We all were supposed to be on the stage for Dick Clark's Birthday Show on November 29, 1958 but an airline strike caused a delay. We all got to meet Bobby Darin, Frankie Avalon and Connie Francis at a party though. It was quite a weekend and I wish there was more video available of these great shows. The who's who of popular music appeared on this show but it only had a 2-year run. Audience members got a green IFIC button and some gum. IFIC was part of the ad campaign...flavor-ific.
