Yeah can't lie...

....I just freaking love this show, man. The writing is great. I just love how they incorporate actual historical figures with the story line of Peaky Blinders. The directing is great. Every time I watch it I really feel like I am back in those days. The acting is great. Each and everyone of the actors give a stellar performance. But Cillian Murphy is just perfect in his role.

First episode of season 6 and the quality of it all just isn't dropping off. They keep achieving the same level of quality. Hats off to them.

Like I said I love this show. Sad it must come to an end.

What a start.

Warning: Spoilers
Great start, One of the most beautiful episodes honestly. Events are listed in the best way. And finally we saw a change in Thomas' personality. Polly's death was necessary, And we've seen its impact on most family members. Anya's very talented, And her role as Gina is one of the best she's played. Thomas' meeting with Gina was the best scene in the episode. I missed Alfie in this episode, But I'm optimistic in the next episodes. I liked to rely on dialogues more than anything else, and that's what sets peaky blinders apart from the rest of the series. I was surprised by mosley's disappearance, But I won't judge we're still in the first episode.

Eagerly waiting for the next episode.

Thanks Steven Knight.

Thanks BBC.

I can say this episode did not disappoint especially after the long wait! Got me so hooked again I can't wait for the next episode. This episode does leave many questions and they will hopefully be answered in the upcoming episodes.

Been waiting for so long and now it's finally here. Oh, boy yeah, he's back and he's terrific as ever. The opening scene was sick. And the funeral scene was shocking, looking forward to know more about it. And the meeting, man, Tommy will always be one of best TV character ever made. There's nothing huge going on this episode yet an amazing opening episode. This show is stellar as always.

The Blinders Are Back!
alkhawammarie27 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
After nearly two and a half years, the Peaky Blinders are finally back on the small screen. This episode really kicks off the tension between Tommy and Michael with Tommy getting Michael arrested and taunting him in prison.

This episode also revealed how they dealt with the tragic passing of Helen McCrory by tying in Polly's death with the people behind the shocking betrayal in the season five finale. Topped off with the funeral and a dedication to her memory in the credits, I think this was the best way to deal with it.

Furthermore Tommy had stopped drinking which has given him a surprisingly cool head under pressure, Arthur is still a drunken mess and Ada is really living up to Aunt Polly's legacy. I can't wait to see where this final season goes next.

Good
eoinpgeary7 March 2022
It's brilliant to be back in the world of the peaky blinders A beautiful send off at the start of the episode, the story seems to be going in a good direction and it was good to see Tommy back in action taking abuse from nobody !

The only gripe with this is Arthur, I'm getting kind of sick of how he is ALWAYS a problem that will be fixed after a chat and then go back to the same old drugs or drink.

Tommy plays his cards
mgalercail27 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As always I expect nothing by class from this show. Stylish and brilliantly acted since series one.

The atmosphere feels claustrophobic Pure tension with each scene. This certainly feels like a final season already.

A fuse to a giant bomb has been lit.

What is Tommy's true endgame?

War in Boston may happen.

After an unsuccessful suicide attempt, his psychosis is in full bloom.

It's great to see cockroach Michael finally thrown in jail. And watch Gina squirm as Tommy breaks her down with a few words.

Arthur has fallen off the wagon big time meantime. Doped out of his head, as he is broken over the loss of Polly.

The ominous phone call scene gave me chills. An omen from his sick daughter or just superstition?

This episode is a beautiful tribute to Helen McCrory, from the funeral scene to just ambient sounds of wind chimes and birds. A somber yet touching end credits.

Will the little cockroach Michael and she devil Gina get theirs?? Lord I hope so. Glad Polly slapped him good before she left us.

Looking forward to Alfie's role this time around. And I hear rumors Mr. Capone may be involved.

Bring on the next five.

I have missed you Peaky Blinders
MoistMovies2 March 2022
I remember still going in blind to to the first episode of this series when it aired. Only because it looked a bit like boardwalk empire and had Cillian Murphy in it, one of my favorite actors going all the way back to 28 days later. He among others like Madds Mikkelson, Ben Mendelson and Joaquin Phoenix.. true actual great actors who should be given all the best roles, only Phoenix of those three truly is recognized for their great talent. I'll watch anything all 4 of these men star in, they draw me into whatever im watching and unless the script/direction is awful then my suspension of disbelief is at 100% because of their acting.

This series, from episode number one was something special. The style, the sets, the acting and writing.. I can not fault any of it. And it's been consistent through the entire series, I went for a rewatch for the 4th time. Two days full on. And it's gets better each time, I watched with subs this time to make sure I didn't miss anything and picked up on a couple small things I had missed before with character interactions and why they end up the way they are by season 6.

I applaud everyone involved in this series. It's now among the greats that never had a bad season with, the wire, the soparnos, breaking bad etc.. Unless this one of peaky blinders turns out bad? I doubt it.

Back With A Bang
aidanb-7911128 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Season 6 Picks up exactly where Season 5 left off, with Tommy in the field with Grace and Dangerous. Im kind of surprised he tried to kill himself, even before he found out about Polly (RIP Helen McRory). By the way, that was one of, if not the most beautiful scene in the history of the show. The whole build up to it, and the 3 bodies lying next to each other. Tommy captured the emotions so well, I really cant describe it. While we knew Polly was going to have to be written off, I still can't believe the IRA actually killed her. Polly Gray, the Gypsy Queen seemed nearly as unkillable as Tommy and yet there it was. The whole reveal and the funeral is the best tribute possible... the fire engulfing the cart with Polly and her possesions in it contrasting with the sound of the birds and the forest. I also love how they repeated that sound in the end credits, I simply havent found the emotions to express how I feel about it. I love the direction Tommys headed as well - he seems more clever and cunning when sober. Can't wait to see what's next!

9.4? Really?
jdjc0016 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Don't really use this site anymore but just had to comment on this. Yes, the tribute to Helen McCrory/Aunt Pol was very touching, Cillian Murphy is on top form as always, but there is no way that this episode is even close to the series' best. It's 60 minutes of exposition that very haphazardly dumps on the audience that it was the IRA who is responsible for sabotaging Tommy's assassination plans. Like that's it? Now we're just going to skip along to the next thing and forget about Mosley?

Also, although I don't think she's a bad actor by any means, Anya Taylor-Joy feels a bit like a fish out of water as Gina this season. Compared to the other actors it felt like she was really chewing the scenery sometimes (almost every time she curses it's like watching a kid who just discovered dirty words), but to be honest it can't all be blamed on Taylor-Joy herself when a lot of the dialogue she's given tries way too hard to seem badass. I fear that her recent success as an actress is unfortunately going to overshadow the character itself and that she will be restricted to being walking fan service. In a similar vein, the random needle drops are becoming somewhat tiresome. I don't need to hear guitars to know that something is cool.

This episode wasn't bad at all (I know I must sound overtly critical and bitter) but it does puzzle me that this season premiere is rated so much higher than the others for this series. I'm still excited to see where the story goes after the news about Tommy's daughter and I'm hoping that Uncle Jack will not disappoint in a series with some truly classic villains.

Disappointment.
fffflora11 June 2022
I'm one of the camp who finds this season different and disappointing. Yes, the cinematography is excellent. But the writing is awful. And I mean awful. This is not Peaky Blinders. The style is completely different. I could tell something was off in the opening scenes. It started to feel awkward, it didn't flow. There were several of these awkward moments and lines in this first episode. As for that writing...there is literally no plot. There is talk about a plot, but no actual plot. No action, no tension. Nonstop conversations about politics and what's happened and what's going to happen. The writer butchered this season so badly that he even managed to drain the life out of Alfie's scenes.

I don't understand how the producers let this happen. Does the script not go through rounds of editors? Did no one pick up on the fact that hey, this is different and we need more compelling scenes and plot here instead of scenes of characters sitting around a table talking? No one noticed they need a better writer?

I have a hard time believing Steven Knight actually wrote this season, and if he did, he really fumbled it.

Well everyone knows the death of the beloved actress in this series. Writer made an opportunity out of a disaster. So that's admirable but I'm saving my 10 for the episode they want to peak the Peaky Blinders.

You'd think the first episode of last season would be slow and lay ground for the end. You'd think.
zain_ahmed27 February 2022
How do they keep pulling it off like that? I really hope the ending of this show is a banger because so far they have done a fantastic job which results in raising viewers expectations.

For ep 1 of a tv show, it was packed with good amount of action and excellent story telling with couple of twists. It's almost impossible to predict whats gonna happen next which I absolutely love. Super excited to see the next episode!

A perfect start to the last season of an amazing series, as sets off a thrilling, action filled season, just brilliant. I am sure that this in one of the best premiere episode of all shows since the begining of cinematography.

He Rises From The Muck
douglasmcbroom10 June 2022
We say goodby to Helen McCrory (Polly) and time passes. We pick up with a sober Thomas Shelby (Cillian Murphy) and a heavily addicted Arthur (Paul Anderson), in a very short episode.

The action shifts to Boston. The dark cinematography is back, as is the great music. One major drawback continues, Anya Taylor-Joy (Gina Gray) not only plays the most unlikeable character in the series, but she's also the least-talented cast member. A double whammy.

But the Peaky's are back in full swing and that is very good indeed. This short episode sets the scene very well for what's to come.

Solid first episode
snoozejonc8 May 2022
This is an enjoyable start to the sixth season.

There is a lot to explain in this episode, such as the ending of season 5, the current state of play in the Shelby empire, plus the foundations of the next chapter in the story. This is all done with a lot of exposition dialogue and a heavy focus on Tommy.

Cillian Murphy is on great form as always, depicting the character as ambitious and troubled as ever. I think he carries this episode as there is no other particularly compelling presence on screen and the plot isn't really able to start moving quite yet.

The cinematography, costuming, period detail and general art design is excellent as always. For fans of the usual slow motion strutting and musical interludes there is plenty on display.

For me it's a 7.5/10 but I round upwards.

More cinematic shots than story

Could have been better. Peaky blinders season 6 could have been better. Story line, acting everything was fine except for direction. There were more and long cinematic shots which I needed to skip while watching.

How could this show completely drop the Ball?
boomerchinde21 June 2022
I absolutely loved Peaky Blinders and watched the first 5 seasons over and over again. I couldn't wait for season 6 to begin. What a severe disappointment. Episodes 1-2-3 were simply boring. Production values plummeted, losing a sense of scope. Where scores of activity had taken place in all previous seasons, season 6 had a myopic feel to it, as though the only people existing in England were members of the Shelby family. The action was listless throughout each episode, and there was a strong feeling it was they were simply trying to rework the Godfather saga. The last episode was anti-climatic in the extreme. All the actors performed as though they were tired and ready to move on to better things. If they decide to do another season, count me out.
