Wow!

Warning: Spoilers
I had a friend that once said that he knew that if someone, anyone he knew would take pills that he found laying on the ground, it would be me. Well, maybe not after watching this.

Made-in-Florida, shot in Miami, infused with the madness that drugs like bath salts and Krokodil were supposed to unleash on all of us, this is the story of a honeymooning couple -- Chloe (Kimberly Laferriere) and Jack (Rogan Christopher) -- who are looking at all kinds of experiences to strengthen their relationship, from an abortive attempt at swinging to taking peyote that a near-lunatic blood covered man gives them on the beach before he literally walks into the ocean.

Soon, their not-so-perfect new marriage isn't their only problem. Whatever the drug that's in their system, it does more than cause them to dance all night. It awakens a desire for human flesh.

Do Not Disturb is a totally confident film that is as much about eating other human beings as it is about devouring them emotionally through a relationship that should have really run its course. So yeah, unlike all those death of a relationship movies that usually bore me, this one sung right at my heart, because of course some people deserve to be eaten and then the leftovers tossed into the surf.

Don't miss this one.

BIG RECOMMEND!

Warning: Spoilers
Wow. This. Film. Is. A. Mindf$#k. I saw this at it's world premiere at Popcorn Frights in Miami, and I have to say, the experience of the theatre during the screening was one of the most intense I'd ever sat through. This film has layer upon layer of metaphor. Whether inferred intentionally or subconsciously by Ainslie, he really has done a masterful job of crafting a film I can't wait to see again. It stays with you.

The performances of Christopher and Laferriere are intensely sad and moving. We see Jack and Chloe crack and Ainslie's painted it for us in a way where its like being around the abusive couple that refuses to break up - and we can't leave. There is no refuge from the toxicity of the marriage and relationship.

What was unexpected and I really enjoyed were the comedic elements. This film plays a lot like Korea's Blue Beard where it will make you laugh at Jack's stupidity or clumsiness in one instance but in the next you're as uncomfortable as the scene no one will speak of in Noe's Irreversible.

Absolutely brilliant work by Ainslie I can't wait to see this again. He's a must-see filmmaker and I hope I get to see Laferriere and Christopher in more soon too. The pair are absolutely electric performers that bring a grounded and raw realness to their characters with ferocity, tenderness, and humor.

People Saying 10/10 Must Be From a Talent Agency

Warning: Spoilers
What is going on? I feel like I must be on the same peyote the characters were taking, because this movie isn't close to a 10. The frustrating part, for me, is that the back half of the move almost gets to that level. The drug induced insanity is remarkably well done.

However, it seems like reviewers want to gloss over the fact that the two leads are some of the more irremediably terrible characters in all of horror. The male lead is so unrepentantly terrible it ruins any investment a viewer might have. The female lead is...what? She is essentially a doormat for her husband, is weak in almost every way imaginable, and has zero sense of agency.

If you decide to watch this, skip the first 40 minutes and just get to the drug induced nightmare stage. The rest is unintentional comedy horrible.
