11 December 2009 5:00 PM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

What will the second single off "American Idol" Kris Allen's debut CD be?

When Zap2it spoke with Allen earlier this week, he said he hasn't yet decided, but he's been thinking a lot about it. He also says that he's accepting advice, so we asked readers to weigh in.

The verdict?

Though neck-and-neck with "Before We Come Undone," "Alright With Me" currently has a slight lead.

Are you listening, Kris?

If so, perhaps you'd be interested in hearing a bit more from some of your fans who voted...

Alright With Me is awesome!!!! It's awesome .. It's a little different and it's really fun! ... I can [see] The Truth for the third single.. he needs a slower one too! - Amanda

Thanks for not including Red Guitar in the poll!;) - D

He really should sing Send Me All Your Angels. I listen to his CD on my way to »

Kris Allen's Debut Album: The Preview

9 November 2009 3:20 PM, PST | MTV Newsroom | See recent MTV Newsroom news »

Being a diehard "American Idol" fan is an emotional roller-coaster. No matter how much you dig a performer on the show, by the time his or her album leaks your fandom has been deflated by less-than-awesome singles and frustrations with how they're being marketed. "Idol" albums are often over-written, over-produced and over-calculated, making the artist feel like studio-bots with little personality. "I'll like the songs on tour, without all the studio crap around it," you say to yourself, trying to save face when deep down you know your favorite new singer laid an egg.

Well, fans of our current "American Idol" can breathe a giant sigh of relief, because AOL premiered Kris Allen's self-titled major label debut this morning and it’s pretty damn good.

I jotted down some notes while listening to the CD for the first time. And MTV News would like me to share them with you. »

Kris Allen song snippets: Let's rank 'em from best to not-so-best!

5 November 2009 1:44 PM, PST | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

In some ways, there's no experience less satisfying than listening to song-snippet leaks from albums you've been anticipating for mini-eternities. (What? After an hour of smelling a chocolate cake baking in an oven, you'd be happy with a crumb?) But as someone who happened to be in a three-day corporate meeting last week when Italian Amazon leaked 30-second samples of the 13 songs from Kris Allen's self-titled debut, I can attest that, in fact, I'd rather have had an all-too-brief musical tease than absolutely no music at all. And while our Music Mix blog has already run an item on »

Adam Lambert's For Your Entertainment: The 30-Second Snippets

3 November 2009 10:40 AM, PST | MTV Newsroom | See recent MTV Newsroom news »

Stock up on water, hide your children and do not look directly at its bright shimmering light, because 30-second song previews of have hit the Web. Pop music will never be the same!

Ok, so there's some hyperbole there. (Blame my inner Glambert for taking over.) So before I start claiming his body parts, let's put on sci-fi lab-coats and break down the song previews in a (somewhat) level-headed manner.

» "Music Again"

The album kicks off with what sounds like will be my favorite Adam Lambert song, penned by Justin Hawkins of the Darkness. It's got "Bohemian Rhapsody" harmonies, an AC/DC-inspired guitar riff and boastful lyrics that have the "Idol" runner-up deservedly planting his freak flag into pop culture's landscape. "There've been many moons before I met you/ And I ain't going nowhere," he snarls. Damn straight! Welcome to the party, Adam. You came just in time. (Bonus: As the snippet fades out, »

Just a few days after "American Idol" winner Kris Allen tweeted that he finished his self-titled major-label debut (and misses Nickelodeon's "Doug," by the way), the full track listing for the November 17 album has been revealed.

While the debut had many musical cooks, according to the track listing obtained by Entertainment Weekly, it appears that songs co-written by fellow "Idol" alum Chris Daughtry, as well as those with singer/songwriter Mat Kearney, did not make the cut.

Kearney had previously told MTV News that the tune he was working on with Allen would rough up the squeaky-clean Conway, Arkansas, native's image. "It's driving ... it has some edge to it," Kearney said earlier this month. »
