This movies starts off with a bang, but that tension soon melts away.
It's not a terrible movie. I can see there is a fairly good plot, but I think it needed to be executed a little better.

Eminently Watchable

Some of the acting performances are interestingly bad. Like an Eli Roth or M Night Shamalan movie. It's basically two movies in one ad well. For instance, I bet you didn't know that the stars of the movie are actually 6 college kids, not some woman writer alone in the woods.
Real talk: it's a bad movie, but there's something likable about it. I'm glad I watched it. Stick around for the ending and don't give up during the slow first 20 mins, because it really picks up when the kids come into the picture, including an incredibly bad yet totally compelling performance by the older brother actor. I'm obsessed with this guy. His dramatic mannerisms, his over acting, the sound of his voice, and the way he looks.
Not super scary, but people die, and there are some tense moments for sure. But the faint of heart will definitely be able to handle this movie too.

Yes, we watched the wrong movie too

Warning: Spoilers
My girlfriend picked the movie Alone for us to watch, I, being in charge of getting the movie ready, found the wrong one and we ended up watching this. The movie is confusing and doesn't make sense, jumping between characters every 15 minutes. It started out as a thriller, before becoming a comedy towards the end with how abruptly everything changes. From being nervous on a staircase to a master assassin in the space of no time at all. In summary, I probably should've double checked the movie first before wasting our time. The main thing I gained through the first half of the movie was that, yes, that guy does look like Nicholas Cage. Please don't make the same mistake as us and check the movie description twice. Cheap movie that aims for all the boxes and ticks none of them. Annoying. Also, PAUL EATS DOG FOOD.
Who really thought this was a good idea.

So much wasted potential!

Warning: Spoilers
Damn. You know when you watch the first 10 or so minutes of a flick and are excited about what's to come because the setup leaves room for endless possibilities? And then, you feel a punch to gut as almost every piece of potential is wasted and when the movie concludes, you are just dumbfounded as to how they messed it up so bad. That's the best way to describe "Alone."
A blind woman who suffered some kind of loss (we know she lost a baby but we do not find out how or any of the circumstances surrounding it) goes to a secluded cabin to write. We know she knows the owners as they have invited her but due to only cryptic dialogue (thanks writers), we have no idea of the relationship between the woman and said owners of the cabin. The blind woman being afraid trope has been done to death but it does add a few moments of suspense here, especially when the audience knows something is going on at this cabin.
Then the movie stops and changes course, focusing on a group of very (so so very) unlikable teens to early 20 somethings who venture to the cabin for some fun. They are extremely annoying, with the usual bad dialogue we have come to expect. As it turns out, these characters are mostly one-dimensional who will meet their end in ways that are somewhat satisfying but you don't care all that much because they haven't been properly built up.
It has a very short run time and the final 20 or so minutes is a repeat of what we have already seen but this time, showing us what really happened, which you could have guessed without them even showing it to be honest. It was painfully obvious what was going on. Between the bad writing, a range from ok to bad acting, and a plot that both left too much out and laid the truth on a bit too thick, this was just a mess of missed potential.
It could have used a couple of redo's in the script and a better cast, though I'm sure budget constraints played a major role. Just disappointing.

ABSOLUTELY TALENTLESS
SMREVIEWS24 September 2020
I'm not going to waste my time typing too much about this film other than to say DO NOT WATCH IT. the most talentless pointless film I have watched since "The Nun". And this was actually worse. Regardless of how easily entertained you are this doesn't make any sense. don't watch don't watch don't watch.
Bad all around.

Spoilers.
The multiple flash backs to show what happened were outlet executed, the acting was very rough to simply bad. The plot was poor. The character development was scant and fractured.
Save your time and $$$$
The one interesting thing was have how very much Bailey Coppola looks like his uncle Nicolas Cage.

Was Looking for Alone(2020) but found this instead. A pleasant surprise

Contrary to most of the reviews I actually liked this movie. If you pay attention you can see the narratives presented through the female protagonist's perspective is obviously warped in her favour. She constructed this fictional story, which was indicated through her comments in the end about the obvious tropes used, to make a secondary narrative, a story within a story. The plot is open-ended so speculation is welcomed here, but to say the plot is too predictable is quite unfair to the film. The utilization of the slasher trope is not a thoughtless adaptation, but rather a comment in itself which can be interpreted in various ways.
I'm not saying it is perfect, but the cinematography is beautiful and well-polished, even though some scenes are quite redundant and can certainly use some trim. Even if I was not looking for this film in the first place, I found the one hour and a half I spent watching it rather enjoyable, since the quality was very good and the plot definitely invited some reflection and pondering.

This should be classified as a horror as I'm forever scarred as to what I just saw. There is a good effort in the beginning and sets itself up to have potential and then, bam! Just like that you're questioning how a blind woman suddenly becomes a ninja of the night and how a guy gets wasted off a half a beer?
Really bad acting.

First off this movie was so bunk trash I created an account to rate this movie. Full honesty I was trying to watch another movie in the same title but who ever was excreting thriller movies this year cranked out too many got damb movies named alone. One might think that this movie was in fact the product of the middle school video class from the school of the blind but this is in fact an actual movie.
Worst movie ever

You've been warned...stay far away.

It's not often that I see a movie so awful and warn other people about it, but this is one of those rare days. Alone is one of the worst movies I've seen in recent memory. The acting is a joke. The premise is a joke. You'll be yelling "what?" at your TV multiple times in frustration at the nonsensical events and character motivations throughout. Even though it only has a runtime of 81 minutes, do something better with your day...pretty much anything else.
One the worst films I ever watched. Stay away!

Why would anyone waste money making this? Curious if the director has a rich dad or something because they need to tell him to just go back to making coffee. This was terrible. Not the fun kind of terrible like the room, this is the kind of terrible where those involved think they are making a masterpiece. It is offensively stupid. The forced ambiguity is horrendous.
Best part of the film was the low budget Nick Cage, and the lower budget Macaulay Culkin. In the past I've enjoyed the 'unlikable teens to the slaughter' trope. But in this case I really just wanted it to be everyone involved in this dreadful thing.
