Despite being in my late teens when the ATL Olympic bombing occurred, I was completely unaware of the story surrounding Richard Jewell until a friend recommended the Clint Eastwood movie about a year ago. I watched the Eastwood film and bravo to everyone involved.
Having watched Manhunt: Unabomber and thoroughly enjoying it, I was excited for a second season. Seems like Netflix is building on an idea lately for second seasons which aren't really second seasons... (Haunting of...).
I binge watched this season of Manhunt in one day. I really admire Cameron Britton, he is truly an actor's actor. He absolutely became his character in Mindhunter (RIP) and so I'm not surprised he did the same with Richard Jewell. How a guy who's 6'5" can simultaneously seem terrifying and harmless is beyond comprehension.
Side by side, I'd say I liked the Eastwood movie more, however Manhunt didn't only deal with Jewell's story, it tells a more comprehensive story around the actual bomber (while taking a lot of artistic license and introducing several fictional characters). Richard Jewell was the more factually accurate, however Manhunt was definitely a more entertaining story.
If you're still reading this and you're honestly still in the fence about this show, my only advice is Watch It, you won't be disappointed!
