Review of both parts:

Following on from the pilot episode Invasion of the Bane, this two part story fully establishes the format of the show. Sarah Jane's newly adopted son Luke starts school along with their neighbour Maria Jackson and they make a new friend Clyde Langer. It turns out the school has been infiltrated by alien villains the Slitheen and Sarah Jane and her teenage companions have to try to save the world.

The Slitheen were introduced in Series 1 of Doctor Who in 2005 in the episode Aliens of London and featured in a total of 3 episodes in that first series of the resurrected show. Those episodes were decent entertainment but faded amongst the better episodes of that series. I actually think this 2 part story is very similar. It is fun, amusing, it actually presents the Slitheen well as a threat. It has a storyline that is not bad but is a little contrived and silly in some aspects. The dialogue is good and the acting and effects make this a strong production.

New character Clyde is an excellent addition. Maria and her father continue to be good. Luke is very nicely developed as a character in this and later stories. Sarah Jane herself is a wonderful character. She was never a weak, vulnerable, screaming companion in Doctor Who and she continues that strong, intelligent, gutsy characterisation. Lis Sladen is perfect in the role.

This is a bit less mature and impressive than the best episodes but is quite an entertaining adventure.

My ratings: Both parts - 6.5/10.

Warning: Spoilers
I'm gonna review the both parts because if I just reviewed one part to another, that would be a total nightmare like I reviewed all of the parts of Classic Who, lol.

Anyways, I thought this episode was gonna be horrible but nope! This episode was entertaining, the storyline is great, liked when Sarah Jane explained to that black guy (( Not being racist )) about the Doctor like she still loves him.

This is really good but not as impressive as the first one the first one nearly was top notch stuff. And it is not a bad start either because it is only the very second episode of course. But still their are a lot better ones. Slitheens make me go ew a little bit though so that's probably why I think that it is worse then the Very first one Sarah jane adventures Debut on CBBC.

A fun start to the first full series.

New term, new school, old enemy. Sarah Jane, Luke, Clyde and Maria learn it's not just the teachers that stink.

It's definitely entertaining, it's fresh and funny, enough adventure to appeal to youngsters and adults alike. The Slitheen were definitely entertaining.

We're introduced to Clyde, and learn a bit more about Maria's life with her dad, Chrissie often steals the scenes, she's so funny.

Martyn Ellis and Ian Midlane are very entertaining, and clearly having plenty of fun. Slade as always is a delight.

Maybe the budget was a bit smaller than in the pilot episode, and you can understand that, but overall, it's a fun start, 7/10.

A great start, to a tonely consistent siries throughout

I want to review it again, because my other one was diabolical and cringeworthy. And I need to express my opinions better. But regardless of that, this is probably, atleast in my opinion the weakest of siries 1's Catalogue. BUT with that said this is still a great siries.

First thing great about this series is Maria. She is a well-established character with so much depth. Right of the back we get the introduction from how she moved, and the reason why she's alone with her dad. And we get a scene showing the strange and ultimately bizarre scenarios that will play out. It makes her as a character interesting, and some of the audience will be able to connect with her, in one way or another. As she has great depth throughout the siries. We get the introduction to Clyde. Who is also on Bannerman Road for the same reasons as Maria just in reverse order. But he acts, and is completely different to Maria. But it's good that RTD made them have some of the same backstory. As it leads to some great and honestly meaningful dialogue between are main cast. Now the next reason of Marias introduction on school, are hinting at the prospect of bad things starting to happen. And fall into place. Another reason as to the many reasons why this episode is great is because of the build-up to the big reveal. Yes the title does ruin the reveal, however the introduction to the big green Aliens is menacing. And leaves you hooked for the next episode. As they are all 2 parters. Like old who, just that had more parts. Lots more parts infact.

The problem with this episode is the title. It does leave alot to be desired when they are making a big reveal. And there plan doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. And the same idea isn't very original, with Aliens in a school. But regardless, this is a great first outing for are new set of characters. Now Verdict time.

Verdict,

7/10 Very Good Episode.
