There were only two matches on this card that got me interested at all. The first was the show opener. This surprised me as it was not really a match I thought would be worthwhile at all. But Kane played well to the crowd and Hornswoggle turned up right when things threatened to get exceptionally boring. Kane pulled out the chokeslam for the win and the night was off to a passable start.

The second match, in which Umaga comfortably accounted for the two most overpushed superstars on RAW, Kennedy and Carlito, with relative ease was more of a comedy match than a serious intercontinental title showdown. It gets a pass because of Umaga and the fact that it was short. Note to RAW, never put Carlito and Kennedy in the same ring again, not after this and their snoozefest on RAW six days prior.

The third match saw a non-awaited rematch between the useless Chavo Guerrero and the popular comeback kid Rey Mysterio. The match failed to get the juices flowing throughout and when Mysterio hit the inevitable 619 on the third attempt and notched up the win it was almost merciful for fans.

The Diva battle royal could have been a good match, but I stopped caring the moment Mickie James was eliminated. The final two were Beth Pheonix and some SmackDown Diva who was never going to win it. Talk about disappointing. Here's a side question: What's the point of continuing to build a rivalry between Mickie and Melina when a) they've already met twice for the title this year with Melina winning both times; b)they don't have males hanging off them anymore so they can't meet in a mixed tag contest and c) they surely won't be given a one on one non-title match at any PPV. Another note to RAW: get Mickie back in the Women's Title picture, get Melina out of it and please don't let any of those SmackDown "Divas" in the ring again.

The fifth match of the night, in which John Morrison successfully defended his ECW Title against CM Punk was probably the most disappointing clunker of the night because neither man put in anywhere near their best. Some people were complaining on the message board about Punk and Morrison meeting too often, but come on. ECW don't have any one else who you'd genuinely believe is championship material. Myabe it's time to get the Boogeyman to actually fight when he comes to the ring instead of chewing on worms and spitting them out at people.

Triple H won in a successful comeback against King Booker, who will hopefully now drop the King bit and go back to being plain old Booker T. The main interest in this match was whether or not HHH would get through it alright. He seemed to. Apart from that it was pretty lame. Good to see King Booker bring out the book end. Unfortunately no one ever believed HHH was going to lose so the match could never rise to any great height.

The World Heavyweight Championship was the worst fight of the night. I don't hate Khali like most wrestling fans seem to, and I don't dislike Batista, but the tripe served up by both in this match was almost offensive. Khali won (thank God) and hopefully this will see Batista removed from the title picture. Give some one else a go for pity's sake Batista's had five or six tries in a row and failed to win any of them. This comment raises an interesting problem: Who else on the SmackDown roster deserves a title shot? Kane? Matt Hardy? MVP? Mark Henry? Bring back JBL for one night only? It only has to be for one PPV and then Taker will be back. Maybe he could get a decent match out of Khali.

Fittingly the last match of the night, in which John Cena retained his WWE Title against Randy Orton, was also the best. The crowd was electric and the in ring performances were excellent. I was disappointed with the ending, as I am an Orton fan and felt he'd demonstrated his superiority, not just in the fictional side of the match, but technically as well. Unfortunately it's unlikely Orton will have a better opportunity to win the title then he did tonight anywhere in the near future. That's right Cena fans, I think the belt's staying right where it is, certainly until Wrestlemania and probably beyond...
