Superhero Representation Done Right
jeremycrimsonfox27 July 2023
In the city of Lusaka, Zambia, four girls in secondary school, Zee, Temwe, Monde, and Komana, are chosen by Mama K to become a team of undercover superheroes after they save people when Storm Drain, a supervillain who can control the weather, which includes making and controlling tornadoes, wreaks havoc on their school's science fair. These four girls are given super suits that enhance their natural speed and strength, as they go up against villains like Storm Drain, Locust Pocus, Snap Back, and others, who all work for Bad Magz, an evil mastermind who is bent on the city to its knees.

Now this is what I call a good example of representation done right, as the show, made in southern Africa, gives us brand new superheroes instead of doing what Hollywood has been doing with remakes of older movies (I'm looking at you, Disney), as the characters and setting perfectly capture the culture of the country this cartoon was made in. Also, the animation is amazing, as it is done in the same way the Spider-Man Spider-Verse movies (as well as TMNT: Mutant Mayhem) are, as it feels like we are watching a comic book come to life. Also, the episodes have some good life lessons. This is a neat superhero cartoon for kids.

Africa's Greatest Heroes
calahao22 December 2023
Supa Team 4 takes a serious real life problem, that of the energy crisis in Zambia, and turns it into a colourful premise for a super hero show. The show is serialized with greater ongoing plots, rewarding hawkeyed viewers that pay attention to every minute detail.

However, for the most part it is a formulaic action show, and seeing the four girls take down the villains of the week - every bit as over the top as this series deserves - is satisfying and scratches that primal joy.

Overall this is one of Africa's most high profile animated series, and a great show for Zambia as a nation. Hopefully there will be more seasons.

Just discovered this gem!!!!

I love everything about this show!!!! The content, production, the storylines, the girls, Mama K, the humor, and the topics the characters talk about. My adult daughter and her 5 year old daughter love it too! I'm going to share it with everyone I know in IL and ATL! I hope this is the beginning of many stories we get to see from this creator. I echo what the other reviewer said - representation done right, with intelligent and stimulating content every parent can feel safe sharing with their children. This show is refreshing. For Americans or others who may struggle a bit with hearing different accents, closed captioning is helpful and helps you hear it in your brain!
