Good Idea . Bad Computer Graphics
Theo Robertson4 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
In a world of the future humanity lives under the sterile jackboot of technocracy . A young called Lutz tries to overthrow the system . He knows what the penalty is for his treason - imprisonment in a virtual world where his nightmares will become a reality

I was attracted to this short film because the central idea resembled Orwell's 1984 and wondered if the short could bring something new to the table in a well trod path to a Dystopian future . Not much to be brutally honest and to be fair it's always difficult to bring a new twist to this tale . D.I.M is also let down greatly by computer graphics and green screen that is all too patently computer graphics and green screen . What is interesting is that it's a German film and you'll notice some allegorical turns of phrase and imagery that Germany is ill remembered for . It does also have a very witty dig at the media which I liked , a sort of DEAL OR NO DEAL that instantly reminded me of the DOCTOR WHO story Vengeance On Varos and there is a clever twist at the end that I didn't see coming
