Think about what you believe
tombo8181 March 2021
I became a born again Christian in 2008 and my belief on a hell as eternal conscious torment changed in 2018.

Why would God do such a thing? He won't. He loves us all and the lake of fire and brimstone is not to physically burn folks forever but rather for purification. It's a spiritual fire as God is a consuming fire and brimstone is a purifying agent.

Col 1:20 states how God will reconcile all things back to Himself...well that would contradict an eternal hell. ;-)

God bless you all

A fantastic up to date argument, all AMERICANS need to contemplate!
RodOlson8 July 2020
Why? We are one of the MOST "RELIGIOUS" of all the democratic nations. The rising generations tend to see a bit more clearly incorrectness of the "traditions" of the past generations. In other words, rising Generations stand on the shoulders of prior generations and Society changes, usually or eventually (so far) forward... we progress.

Human history has proven it... look how we live today vs 100 yrs ago or better yet, 8,000 years ago vs today! Wow!

Yet, human nature tends to think the past was better somehow, even against all the data (See "Factfullness" by Hans Rosling, etc.) and many of the older generations are perplexed why "The Nones" are the fastest growing segment of Christianity in the USA (See Pew Research: "In U.S., smaller share of adults identify as Christians, while religious 'nones' have grown," etc.).

This great documentary helps anyone interested as to why that is or interested in what we have learned through our history of social progress.

To the comment giving this only 2 stars because it doesn't argue all sides.... I don't mean to be rude, but my god, there are innumerable documentaries on religion, Christianity, metaphysical, etc. on Amazon alone, but if one includes Netflix, Discovery, NatGeo, History, CuriosityStream, YouTube the argument is well stated, presented and biased almost as much as the stars in our galaxy. (I am exaggerating here but please dear Cosmos, producers, apologist, etc., we don't need another doc or screenplay arguing FOR the truthfulness of religion.

It's time for the honest, truthful, sincere, rational of archeological, cognitive, social, psychiatric, behavioral, sciences, theological, etc. to stand up and tell their stories now.

I loved this film... I have been a Mormon for 40 years and an award winning documentary film maker, so I know a little of what I speak about. NOT dismissing anyone's subjective perspective or ideology, I think sometimes our anecdotal experiences override our abilities to think beyond ourselves, IF we don't purposefully and deliberately look for contrary or diverse perspectives equally.

It's uncomfortable and can be painful, I am well aware of that panic, pain and discomfort BUT growth only comes from those types of experiences. Never from comfort and platitudes!

Highly recommend!
