Patsy Rowlands is absent from this episode.
A mix-up at International Rentals leads to the wrong slips being put in people's pay packets. Fights break out as employees see what others are earning. Rex and Harry stalk each other like jungle predators. Even the normally unflappable Mr. Fletcher is not immune from the madness. So what will happen next?
As it turns out, very little. As was the case with Richard Harris' previous episode - 'Burke In Clover' - this one makes its point fairly quickly and then has nowhere to go. To be fair to Mr. Harris, he has worked successfully on other shows. His 'Outside Edge' ( starring Timothy Spaull and Josie Lawrence ) was ITV's only decent 1990's sitcom.
Leslie Dwyer ( the moaning Punch and Judy man 'Mr. Partridge' from the BBC's 'Hi-de-Hi!' ) appears as handyman 'Ted', who has a talent for playing tunes by tapping his head ( don't ask ).
Funniest moment - Fletcher shyly asks Burke to hand over his pay packet. The scruffy employee makes a speech describing the request as unethical. Fletcher gives him a pound, and Burke complies! So much for ethics.
The comic Burke is reading is 'Dracula Lives!', a popular British Marvel comic launched in 1974.
