This is a reference to the massive Internet petition that was created when LucasArts canceled 'Sam & Max: Freelance Police'. Near it's end the petition had over 30,000 signatures. The cancellation also prompted several LucasArts employee's to leave and form Telltale Games, which immediately began producing a new Sam & Max game.

This is the first Sam and Max game to introduce a new voice actor for Max, that stuck all the way through the final entry of The Devil's Playhouse. This voice actor in particular is William Kasten, who replaced Andrew Chaiken after Culture Shock's release.
