Shelley Duvall has been through the ringer. Once a staple in the works of Robert Altman – she didn’t work with another director between her 1970’s Brewster McCloud and 1977’s 3 Women – Duvall then had parts working for Woody Allen in Annie Hall and Stanley Kubrick in The Shining. But things sort of just fell apart and Duvall became a punchline, eventually retreating from the movie business entirely, spending the bulk of her time in Texas. Now, with her first movie in 20+ years, The Forest Hills, under her belt, she has some thoughts about the industry.
In a terrific new piece in The New York Times, Shelley Duvall said she was more or less betrayed by Hollywood. “I was a star; I had leading roles…People think it’s just aging, but it’s not. It’s violence.” Duvall doesn’t mean physical violence, however, adding, “How would you feel if people were really nice,...

It’s undeniable that Michael Jackson was the King of Pop and Madonna is the Queen of Pop — but only one of them had the higher net worth. While the two stars ruled the 1980s, they had very different careers. Shockingly, one of them was worth over a billion dollars more than the other.
Madonna’s net worth is huge
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Madonna was born on August 16, 1958, in Bay City, Michigan. She debuted with the now-forgotten single “Everybody,” but her self-titled debut album produced three subsequent hits: “Holiday,” “Borderline,” and “Lucky Star.” She became a megastar with her second album, Like a Virgin. Between the album’s title track and the song “Material Girl,” Madonna established herself as a provocative performer who was not afraid to flaunt her sexuality.
With her album Like a Prayer, the Queen of Pop started exploring spiritual topics through pop music. She reinvented herself repeatedly,...

During her Celebration Tour in Atlanta, Madonna named the producer she was enamored with in 1994 when she recorded her album Bedtime Stories.
In between her songs, Madonna, 65, gave audiences a peek into her past romances. The singer claimed she was “madly in love with him” despite him treating her like “s—.” One fan posted a video of the confession to X, captioned, “Madonna spilling hot tea.”
“I’m just saying, you did, you dogged me, bro,” Madonna said. “It’s ok, I understand. You were just a boy. But I hope you’ve grown up by now.”

Hundreds of Cbeebies Bedtime Stories will soon be added to BBC iPlayer, and details of what’s happening are here.
The art of telling a story has been utilised for the television screen ever since the medium began. Jackanory is probably the best example, whether it was the much missed Bernard Cribbins spinning a yarn or the great Rik Mayall reading Road Dahl’s George’s Marvellous Medicine with a feverish fervour, it is perhaps the most primal form of drama there is, and is integral to children’s development.
Bedtime Stories is a kind of modern take on Jackanory for pre-schoolers, often managing to tempt huge stars of stage, screen, music and everything inbetween to Cbeebies to read a story. The BBC is making hundreds of episodes from the past available on iPlayer too.

The biggest event of the 38th Grammy Awards, which took place in February 1996, was Mariah Carey’s infamous shutout across all six of her nominations. The R&b and pop singer-songwriter was expected to pick up multiple Grammys due to the success of her album “Daydream.” Yet, as the ceremony progressed, Carey and the audience quickly realized that “Daydream” wasn’t as strong as most thought. There’s one category in particular that had to seem locked for Carey more so than anything else: Best Pop Vocal Album. Being the first award of the telecast, “Daydream’s” loss to Joni Mitchell’s “Turbulent Indigo” really set the stage for the rest of the Carey-snubbage that was about to take place. However, even without Carey, Mitchell’s win would’ve been just as shocking with top-selling albums from artists like Madonna and The Eagles also nominated. In the end, it was...

About 15 years ago, director Kevin Lima ("A Goofy Movie") made something pretty special with "Enchanted." The 2007 live-action riff on Disney tropes is loaded with charm primarily thanks to Amy Adams as Giselle, the marriage-hopeful Princess who finds herself leaving her animated world of Andalasia for the real world after falling down a well. "Shrek" may have beaten them to the Disney-satire punch, but Adams' earnestness about the whole affair sells the princess parody nevertheless.
Lima isn't returning for the sequel, as "Hairspray" filmmaker Adam Shankman has taken over directing duties. Fortunately, Shankman has worked with Disney before with "The Pacifier" and "Bedtime Stories." Screenwriter Matt Lopez has signed with CAA for representation just ahead of the premiere of his adaptation of “Father of the Bride” for HBO Max. The new movie, starring Andy Garcia as the titular father, Gloria Estefan, Adria Arjona, and Isabela Merced, will debut on June 16, timed to Father’s Day Weekend.
Lopez also penned the script for another upcoming adaptation — this time, Walt Disney Studios’ “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” movie, with 21 Laps and the Jim Henson Company producing. Like “Father of the Bride,” the new movie will reportedly center a Latino family’s story. In 2020, Netflix acquired the rights to his spec feature script “Wraith,” based on the novel “Cyberstorm” by Matthew Mather. Sebastian Hoffman is set to direct that project, which is produced by Emile Gladstone.

“Madame X,” the new Madonna concert film, opens with a montage of some of the pop superstar’s most legendary performances, music videos, and shock-theater provocations: the infamous moments from the MTV Video Music Awards, the transgressive S&m imagery and Gaultier fashion, the tabloid headlines like “What a Tramp” and “Madonna Has No Shame” (how quaint in the age of Instagram!), the on-cue outrage from the Catholic Church. The film closes with a montage of oppressed people and groups from around the world set to Madonna’s onstage performance of “I Rise,” a song about the powerless standing up to fight the power. The opening montage reminds you of the impassioned and sometimes scandalous effusiveness of Madonna in her heyday; each clip gives off a buzz. The final montage is earnest to a fault, and the song, while working overtime to be an anthem, is serviceable and far from ecstatic.

This marks the third retelling of the story that began with the Spencer Tracy original in 1950 and was most recently remade by Disney in 1991 starring Steve Martin. That film spawned a sequel in 1995.
The latest film will tell the story of a father coming to grips with his daughter’s upcoming wedding through the prism of multiple relationships within a big, sprawling Cuban-American family. It will be more of a rom-com than previous versions of film.
Sources say Lopez was inspired by his own cross-cultural nuptials and the many epic Cuban weddings he has attended, some of which he’s still recovering from.
Jesse Ehrman and Paul Perez will oversee for Warners.

It seems like you can’t navigate through any of Netflix’s menus or functions without stumbling across at least one Adam Sandler movie, with the actor becoming an almost ubiquitous presence on the streaming service since first signing an exclusive deal to produce a string of original films that are generally terrible, but also hugely popular with subscribers.
Netflix plan on riding the Sandler gravy train for a while yet, too, following reports that they’re keen to tie the 53 year-old down for even longer even though the two sides only renewed their agreement in January of this year, with Happy Madison Productions picking up $275 million for their near-constant contributions to the Top 10 most-watched list.
The past few years have shown both sides of Sandler, with the critically-acclaimed Uncut Gems featuring his undoubted talents as a dramatic actor, while Murder Mystery saw him revert back to type and headline...

David Byrne, Iggy Pop and Michael Stipe are among the musicians and artists participating in a new digital art project from artist Maurizio Cattelan called Bedtime Stories.
Bedtime Stories launched via the New Museum and, per a statement, Cattelan envisioned the project “as a way of staying together during these days of isolation.” Each participant was asked to share a selection from their favorite book, but while some followed the prompt exactly, others read their own writing or even shared impromptu performances.
