Terry and June change places!
ShadeGrenade19 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
With Aunt Lucy away, Terry and June Fletcher have the house to themselves. June decides to spend the day in bed, and let Terry do all the household chores, including cleaning, shopping, and cooking. As you might expect, he is not very good at any of these, and when he goes to bed that night, he is exhausted. He has a strange dream in which men and women have somehow changed places...

I prefer this series to 'Terry & June'. This is mainly because of John Chapman and Eric Merriman's scripts, which are excellent. Terry & June was good but a bit too reliant on slapstick humour for my liking ( such as Terry falling into ponds ). This particular episode is par for the course. Terry's visit to a supermarket uncannily predicts Alf Garnett's visit in 'In Sickness & In Health' a decade later. But what propels this episode into the comedy stratopshere in my view is the brilliant dream sequence near the end. Terry Scott reimagines his character as a virginal batchelor determined to preserve his honour, while June Whitfield scores highly as a sexual predator. Norman Bird and Pearl Hackney appear as Terry's parents. Eventually, this other Terry and June marry, and Terry becomes the world's first pregnant man!

Things To Look Out For - the appearance of a female priest draws laughter from the studio audience. Back in 1976, they did not exist. Now they do.

Funniest moment - Terry telling June he is with child. How they managed to keep straight faces while filming the scene is remarkable.
