The Sid episode is brilliant, the plot gets moving again, with all the key characters involved. Sid is unfocused, in danger of failing his A-levels and warned to "get his head down." No more hanging out, smoking weed and so on. The father is a brilliant character, angry, domineering and short tempered. The episode also shows us Tony at his most manipulative and cruel, playing mind games, raising Sid's hopes and then dashing them for fun, emasculating him and toying with Michelle and her dependency on him. It's so emotionally abusive. Sid, Michelle, Tony, Cassie and Abbi all get quite a bit of screen time in this one which is good. The weather still seems summery and colours remain bright and bold. Again in this one the parents and teachers are useless and can't help when it's really needed. Sid is just told to "find his wings" by his teacher. Whatever that means....

In real life a girl like Cassie wouldn't even talk to a guy like Sid, she is way out of his league, yet she is hopelessly in love with him and he won't even give her a chance.
If this was realistic Sid would be chasing Cassie for months not the other way around.

Sid's parents speak so nicely to Tony. Obviously Tony is seen as a "role model" for their son - handsome and seems to know what he is doing.
Sid sneaks out to meet Michelle to see Tony's choir performance. He is the only male in the all-girls choir. Sid kisses the other lead singer.
This sparks Michelle's jealousy and she goes backstage where all the girls are changing and topless in their bras. Sid announces himself and the girls furiously push him for seeing them while they are changing.
Michelle and Sid reach the other end where there is a door. Michelle opens the door and we see Tony fondling the blonde girl's breast. Tony doesn't seem to care about being caught cheating.
Later Michelle and Sid sit at a bar. Sid glances as Michelle takes off her outer top. She wears a spaghetti-strap top showing off the shadows of her cleavage and straps of her bra. She leads Sid to the dance floor.
Sid comes home to find dad sitting sadly alone. There is a mess showing he had a meal. Dad says mom left to go to an aunt's home. Sid tells dad he is grounded until mom comes back. Sid's dad comes into his bedroom with the television, stereo and magazine.
