I was really expecting to see a low rating for this title when I check it here on IMDb, instead I was shocked to see the opposite, what was even worse is that the main review that you see on the main page of the title is by an Iraqi citizen, who claims that what they saw in the series was highly accurate, because supposedly it really did show the real Saddam.
One of the main points of this series -if not the main- is to give the viewer a closer look into the Saddam family, and give us a tale of each character to know them more, we were supposed to expect to see a very detailed look into how things work within the family and how every character used to be.
Instead, we are left with only one dimensional characters throughout the whole series.
Every single one of them was stereotyped to death in a way that I just can't really explain; Saddam the bloodthirsty president who would do anything at any cost to keep his status, Uday the crazy guy, Qusay the son with the weak personality who does whatever he's asked to do, Hussein the big traitor.
As for the other characters who play the smaller roles, they didn't do them any good either, they made Raghad seem the wife who seems controlled by her husband the whole time, Rana as the goat that followed Raghad everywhere, and don't even get me started at Saddam's wife, Sajida.
As I already said, the main objective of this series is to give us a detailed story about what happened within the family, yet what was given to us is a very VERY inaccurate events , some of them are laughable as how far that they can go with inaccuracy.
The only thing that they were partially successful with is giving events that were circulating around Saddam himself, and showing that this is a highly dysfunctional family, which is true, other than that it seemed like I was watching a cartoon with a bunch of bad guys who were trying to cancel each other for power.
If you want to watch that as something for entertainment purposes only, then this would be alright as it wasn't that bad watching it as a soap opera, but if you're looking for some kind of a documentary or an inside look about the "Saddam family" then this is a complete rubbish that will only show you a stereotyped version of the big picture of the actual events.
