Roxy's Millions
hellraiser728 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Warning do not read unless seen episode.

This one is another favorite episode of mine. Roxy I always felt was a character that is good but underused making her a bit underrated; she's another one of those characters that don't get enough spotlight time. I always love episodes like there where for once some other character gets center stage, which I think is a refreshing a break from the characters we've become overly familiar with.

Roxy gets the opportunity of a lifetime when she inherits millions and of course we can easily guess she's going to blow those millions faster than she received them. It was just a lot of fun seeing her trying to give the Holograms a lot of grief, as she is doing some attention getting when she makes a fair to overshadow their Lieracy Campaign.

But what makes this episode stand out is how it brings some depth to the character making her not just interesting but sympathetic. We see that Roxy is actually illiterate, which brings reason as to why she's angry most of the time. She's not angry because she wants to be but she's angry at what people might think about her condition but worst of all herself at having it. She really does want more out of life and doesn't want to stay illiterate but the problem is her heads in the wrong place she doesn't know the right way to do it and to get the help she needs.

Other than the theme of the episode being the importance of literacy and education, the other theme is nothing in life is free. Roxy with her fame and what she inherited wrongfully thinks that life always goes her way and that everything is easy and things like literacy and education are unneeded but of course we see her ride comes to a crashing halt when reality catches up.

I really like the ending which I felt was hopefully as we see in the final minutes Bon Ne she gives Roxy a literacy starter book. Despite losing it all Roxy gained something more valuable which is wisdom. As we see in the last minutes she is learning to read, it just goes to show that just because your illiterate doesn't mean you have to stay that way and reading really is seeing.
