Loss is always the most painful feeling, we are always trying to find a relic that gives a semblance of who they were in this lifetime as a way to keep them alive by keeping their memory alive.

I remember as a kid this episode made me cry, which is something that I rarely do for TV episodes but this episode was one of those times. This was a pretty rare episodes where for once it actually took a dramatic turn.

Though this episode isn't perfect, my only problem is the subplot with Eric it doesn't really work and felt unnecessary. It doesn't exactly make much sense on Eric's motivation for it which I felt should of been something that happened from his past instead of just the one dimensional approach. Also how the heck could he even know about the tapes, Mr. Benton told nobody.

But this is a tiny blemish that I can easily look away. Anyway it was really interesting just seeing each of Jem's crew from their humble beginnings, as well as kids and teenagers. I almost wish this was a two parter because I would of loved to of know even more about what happened in their past; but it was interesting seeing how each of them aren't different from who they are now. However I also really like just the sense of familiarity which I feel adds to the emotion in the episode, the neighborhood they live in, house, those things are the kind of places I use to live at.

However what makes this episode stand out is you begin to realize this isn't so much an origin story for Jem, which it partially is. But this is really a story about Jem's mother Jacque and even a little about Jerrica's father. The amount of depth they gave both the characters and the way their handled once again the sense of familiarity they almost feel like the mother and father we have. I actually found myself caring about them and missing them.

I'll admit one scene was really heartbreaking when we see Jacqui about to go on the plane again, we see that the weather is bad and seeing that I already knew what was about to happen. I remember thinking, "no please don't go on that plane, just wait one more day!" But then of course the inevitable happens and just seeing all of the family from Jerica, Kimber, and everyone else just cry really put a tears in my eyes.

And of course Jerrica remembers the last things she said to her mom where she parted on bad terms though it's understandable Jerrica would say those things because her mom was gone a lot and wasn't entirely there at the critical moments of her life. But still knowing those awful things you say being the last words to her mom is an awful feeling; but the thing is we never really can know whether the next conversation will be the last which is why we should always value our time with the other person as long as their still in our lives.

We then see more of the story of the father on the last days of his life and how he created both Starlight records and Synergy. There is a touching revelation and made both Starlight records and Synergy all the more special as we see those things weren't just a gift to the girls or a way to keep Mr. Benton's memory alive but it was a way to honor his wife and keep her memory alive.

It then comes down to the final moment when Jerrica and the rest of holograms publish Jacqui's first and final album and we then here Jacqui sing her song "Starlight". The song was just beautiful it's one of my favorite songs in the show despite not a Jem song. The song was both beautifully touching but also really sad if you think about the content of the song it was about being around even if she's gone, and we see images of Jacqui and how she was there for Jerrica, Kimber, Aja, and Shanna through the years. At that point I just broke down and cried.

As long as we continue to remember the ones we lost, they will always be alive like the stars in the sky.
