  [At the railroad station, George Haley has been arrested, and Dan Mathews has taken custody of Dr. Corbett's dog, Chief. Laura Nelson approaches Mathews] 

  Laura Nelson : Well, Mr. Mathews, do you have it all figured out?

  Dan Mathews : No, not quite.

  [Mathews reaches for the dog's collar, but the dog, agitated, almost bites Mathews] 

  Laura Nelson : Easy, Chief, easy.

  [the dog instantly sits quietly] 

  Laura Nelson : What is it?

  Dan Mathews : I'd like to take a look at that dog's collar.

  [Nelson removes the collar and hands it to Mathews. Using a pen knife, Mathews removes a large stud from the collar and separates the stud from its metal base. The gems hidden inside fall into Mathews' hand, surprising Nelson] 

  Dan Mathews : I got it all figured out now. Let's go.
