Post-wwii war crimes thriller Nuremberg boasts a strong leading trio and is set to seek backing at next month’s Cannes Film Festival.
While we don’t have too much on this story, there’s a report that a new project titled Nuremberg is to be revealed at next month’s Cannes Film Festival.
The film will be launching sales at Cannes to try and secure backing to give the film a green light and considering some of the acting talent signed up, we can’t imagine the producers walking away from the French film festival empty-handed.
But first, the set-up.
According to the synopsis (via Variety), ‘Nuremberg chronicles the eponymous trials held by the Allies against the defeated Nazi regime. The film will centre on American psychiatrist Douglas Kelley, who is tasked with determining whether Nazi prisoners are fit to stand trial for their war crimes, and finds himself...

We’re leaving Las Vegas.
CinemaCon 2024 is over — time for studios to go out and prove their pitches at the box office. Based on what we saw, or really what we didn’t see, that will be an uphill battle.
First, let’s take a moment to appreciate the folks and films that showed up. Arguably, the biggest star to attend CinemaCon was Kevin Costner. The cynical point of view? He was pitching not one but two “Horizon” films to theater owners — and simultaneously pitching third and fourth installments to Warner Bros. Plus, Costner received a trophy (the CinemaCon Visionary Award), for which WB execs shooed him offstage just to call him back up. Kinda silly. Speaking of WB execs and no-shows, if David Zaslav was in town, he didn’t come on stage.
Jeff Goldblum did, as did his fellow “Wicked” co-stars Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and Michelle Yeoh.

Disney entertained the CinemaCon crowd in Las Vegas on Thursday with 75 minutes of footage including big crowd-pleasers Deadpool & Wolverine, Inside Out 2, and Alien: Romulus, and an appearance by Dwayne Johnson to promote Moana 2.
Fresh from a victorious boardroom battle for CEO Bob Iger and on the back of a year when Disney ceded its box office throne to Universal, the pressure was on the studio to bring the goods at its presentation – and it delivered with a rousing roster of peeks at 2024 tentpoles and one from the 2025 pipeline.

Last month, 20th Century Studios unveiled a teaser trailer for Alien: Romulus, director Fede Álvarez’s contribution to the Alien franchise that is set to reach theatres on August 16th. (You can watch the teaser Here.) With the release date just four months away, Alien: Romulus received some love during the Disney panel at CinemaCon.
An exclusive extended scene from Alien: Romulus was screened a CinemaCon which followed Cailee Spaeny’s character wandering through a broken-down spaceship corridor with Aileen Wu’s character. They see a ripped-apart android among the debris. David Jonsson’s character, who is an android himself, is rebooting with an interesting effect in his eyes, but at that moment, a swarm of face-huggers burst into the room, chasing the characters out. We saw a bit of this scene in the teaser.

Disney has announced a slew of changes to its upcoming release calendar, firming up the studio's theatrical slate for 2025 and 2026. This includes the return of "Star Wars" to the big screen, a big live-action remake, and the continuation of Pixar's biggest franchise. It's going to be a busy couple of years ahead. Let's go over what we can expect.
First up, "The Mandalorian & Grogu" is set to hit theaters on May 22, 2026. This had previously been listed as an untitled "Star Wars" movie. Now, we know it's Jon Favreau's movie, which will take the world of "The Mandalorian" from Disney+ to the silver screen. It will be the first "Star Wars" movie to hit theaters since "The Rise of Skywalker" concluded the sequel trilogy back in 2019.
The Mouse House also set a date for "Tron: Ares," aka "Tron 3." The sequel will now arrive on October 10, 2025. Disney previously...

In great news for fans of Baby Yoda, Buzz and Woody, and Disney princesses (as well as Disney shareholders), Disney announced a blockbuster slate of films set for release in 2026.
First up, on May 22, 2026, is “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” a feature expansion of the Emmy Award-winning “The Mandalorian” series that introduced the world to Baby Yoda. No word yet on whether star Pedro Pascal will appear as the title character as he’s done in the streaming series. Jon Favreau is aboard as director.
Next, on June 19, 2026, is “Toy Story 5.” Little is also known about that project but Disney boss Bob Iger revealed in 2023 that another installment of the Oscar-winning franchise was en route.
Finally, on July 10, 2026, Disney will release a live-action version of “Moana” with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. This is not to be confused with an animated “Moana” sequel that Disney has set for release later this year.

The features have voice starred Tom Hanks as Woody and Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear.

What can we expect from the House Of Mouse this year? Let’s take a look at the Disney 2024 release schedule.

With the new year upon us it is time we ask what movie (tentatively) releasing in 2024 is the one you are looking forward to seeing the most? The strikes took their toll on some of the movies that were meant for this year but we still have a lot to look forward to.
Whether you are wondering how they are going to make a musical sequel with Joker: Folie à Deux or how Deadpool will fit into the MCU or if Beetlejuice 2 and Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F can be the rare decades later sequels that actually work?! There really is a lot to look forward to this year, and not just sequels either, we have some solid looking original films such as the re-teaming of Brad Pitt and George Clooney in the Jon Watts directed Wolfs along with the gangster film Alto Knights that brings back together Director...

Julianne Nicholson isn’t holding her breath for a “Mare of Easttown” Season 2, but still would “100 percent” return to the HBO series if given the chance.
Nicholson, who won an Emmy along with co-stars Kate Winslet and Evan Peters, told People the long-awaited second season is “not impossible” but also not currently in the works. “Mare of Easttown” starred Winslet as a Pennsylvania detective investigating a series of missing girls. The show was created by Brad Ingelsby.
“It’s not impossible,” Nicholson said of a second season. “You never know.”
She added that she would “100 percent” reprise her role, “if there [was a Season 2] and Kate still was Mare and Jean [Smart] was her mom and Brad wrote it.”
However, Nicholson added, “I’m definitely not waiting for it. I’m not losing sleep over it. But if that was happening and I was invited to join, yeah, definitely.”

Russell Crowe (Gladiator), Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody) and Michael Shannon (Nocturnal Animals) are set to topline Nuremberg, a historical drama set in post-war Germany that marks the latest directorial outing for veteran writer-producer James Vanderbilt (Zodiac), on the heels of the Cate Blanchett-Robert Redford starrer Truth.
Hailing from Bluestone Entertainment (Slingshot) and Walden Media, the film based on Jack El Hai’s book The Nazi and the Psychiatrist is also written by Vanderbilt. Heading into production in Hungary in February, it tells the story of American psychiatrist Douglas Kelley (Malek), who is tasked with determining whether Nazi prisoners are fit to stand trial for their war crimes, and finds himself in a complex battle of wits with Hermann Göring (Crowe), Hitler’s right-hand man. Shannon will play Supreme Court Justice Robert H. Jackson, the chief prosecutor of the Nuremberg trials.

November 8, 2024 belongs to Venom 3. Sony always had the date on hold for a Marvel movie. It was for this film. The movie previously had a July 14, 2024 date set. That wasn’t in the cards as this actors strike hit 118 days with studios and SAG-AFTRA reaching a new three-year deal tonight.
Venom 3 is one of handful of big Hollywood films looking to resume shooting as soon as possible before the end of the year.
Tom Hardy returns as the lethal protector Venom. The film is directed by Kelly Marcel who also wrote the screenplay with the story by Marcel and Hardy. Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, Kelly Marcel, Tom Hardy and Hutch Parker are producing.
Through two movies the Venom franchise counts $1.36 billion worldwide at the box office. At the domestic B.O., 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage owns the third best opening for October at $90M...

In the four years since the Walt Disney Company bought 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight, the core studio — now known as 20th Century Studios — has become for the most part a content mill for its streaming services.
Some key IP — like next summer’s “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” — are still deemed worthy of theaters but most 20th Century Studios films, like the true-crime thriller “Boston Strangler” and “Vacation Friends 2,” are streaming-bound.
Insiders differ on whether this is a temporary situation caused by Covid variables, a Wall Street-driven rush to streaming and an uncertain theatrical marketplace playing their parts. Will the formally theatrically-focused powerhouse fade into Disney-backed irrelevancy or might an improved theatrical marketplace offer the former titan a chance to be more than just a streaming supply arm for the Walt Disney Company?
In March of 2019, the Walt Disney Company paid $71 billion for Fox Studios.

Hollywood has officially been shut down as SAG-AFTRA formally announced its first film and television strike since 1980 at a press conference at its Los Angeles headquarters on Thursday. While the WGA has been on strike since May and certainly impacted a number of productions — particularly in television — the work stoppage from the actors will grind Hollywood to a complete halt. Some major films were still in production at the time of the strike, from Marvel sequels to huge franchises, but those are now on pause, putting their release dates in jeopardy depending on how long the SAG-AFTRA strike will last. Here are all the movies currently being affected by the strike.
Deadpool 3 (Marvel Studios)

With the ongoing writers' strike impacting development and shooting dates for films across Hollywood, Disney has now announced a huge swathe of release date changes for Marvel, Avatar and other movies.
Marvel, of course, has been delaying some of its films' production and that is having a domino effect for the highly connected cinematic universe. Captain America: Brave New World is moving from May 2024 to 26 August next year, which pushes Thunderbolts to 20 December 2024, Blade to 14 February 2025, and Fantastic Four to 2 May 2025.
That knock-on effect means that Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will be bumped back a year, to 1 May 2026, inheriting the release date for follow-up Avengers: Secret Wars, which itself is on the move to 7 May 2027.
Avatar fans, already well used to the waiting game, will see their patience tested further, since Avatar 3 has moved to 19 December 2025, Avatar 4 to 21 December 2029 and Avatar 5 all the way to 19 December 2031! which...

Disney has just announced that they have just shuffled their entire release schedule. Some changes were expected. Some that were unexpected (there are now two Star Wars movies scheduled to be released in 2026) and some are disappointing (one Avatar sequel has been pushed all the way into the 2030s). But, some are very cool – like Deadpool 3 being moved forward, and the new Alien movie from Fede Alvarez getting a theatrical release date.
Here’s how it shakes out:
Previously scheduled to reach theatres on November 8, 2024, Deadpool 3 has now been moved forward to May 3, 2024.
That’s just three days before the release date Captain America: Brave New World had been sitting on, but that movie has now been bumped back to July 26, 2024.
Thunderbolts had been set to reach theatres on that date, but since it hasn’t been able to start filming, it has moved back to December 20, 2024. For the same reason,...

Refresh for updates It feels like Covid all over again, but it’s not. Disney has just made a slew of release date changes, many due to the impact of the WGA Strike and screenplays not being ready and productions paused. We already know that Thunderbolts and Blade are waiting the strike out before rolling cameras. Scripts aren’t fully ready in regards to the new Avengers movies. Avengers: Kang Dynasty goes from May 2, 2025 to May 1, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars is also pushed another year from May 1, 2026 to May 7, 2027.
We told you that 2023 was largely safe in regards to staying intact (knock on wood), however, the ramifications of the WGA strike and productions paused will be felt throughout 2024 and beyond. Commence the great release date shuffle by the motion picture studios.
Also the other delay here with the MCU titles is that Disney wants to make sure they’re better — better...

As part of an immense slate shuffle, Disney announced on Tuesday that it will release the seventh installment of the long-running “Alien” series through 20th Century Studios on Aug. 16, 2024.
Fede Alvarez, director of horror titles like “Don’t Breathe” and the 2013 revival of “Evil Dead,” will write and direct the new film, as well as produce with original “Alien” director Ridley Scott. “Mare of Easttown” star Cailee Spaeny is set to star alongside Isabela Merced, David Jonsson and Archie Renaux.
Several other additions and changes were made to Disney’s slate, including delays of almost all its upcoming Marvel titles including “Blade” and “Thunderbolts,” which saw the start of shooting get delayed due to the ongoing writers’ strike.

Disney’s film empire has reimagined its theatrical release calendar in a major way.
