Parents Guide for
Saw IV (2007) More at IMDbPro »

The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

Note: The number at the beginning of each section refers to how much explicit content of that kind there is in the film on a scale of 1-10. The fraction at the end of the last section is the total sum of the sections over the highest sum possible (50) and is therefore an approximation of about how explicit the film is a whole.

Sex & Nudity: 5

Jigsaw is shown fully nude at the beginning of the movie, in preparation for an autopsy.

One of the men who is put in a trap is an ex-rapist. There are pictures and videos of the women he has raped surrounding him as he is put in his trap.

A man is seen walking around in his underwear in one scene.

Violence & Gore

Violence & Gore: 10

The movie starts off with a full blown autopsy of Jigsaw ....including having his face pulled foward and Brain removed ....and his chest cut wide open with his stomach being removed and cut into (Graphic)

the next scene has a blind man and a mute man strapped to a machine that pulls them closer together (theyre in chains) the key to the blind mans chains is on the mutes neck and viceversa. the scene ends with the mute man smashing the blind mans face on the machine after stabbing him with a crowbar

a mans face is cut to shreds, then he falls in a pit of barbed wire slicing him open

a mans arms and legs are ripped off by chains and eye gauged out by a swinging ice pick- like object

a woman almost dies by having her scalp torn off by a machine

a husband and wife are nailed together with spikes and the woman pulls the spikes out killing the man

a photographer is spiked against a wall through the neck

two men shoot at each other

a man gets his head bashed in with ice blocks

a poisonous chemical is sprayed on a womans face

A man is electrocuted. (Off-screen)

We see some of the bodies from Saw 3 victims. They, of course, are quite bloody.

all scenes contain disturbing images, blood and gore

Profanity

Profanity: 7

60 F-words and its derivatives, 6 scatological terms, 2 anatomical terms, 4 mild obscenities, 3 religious exclamations.

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: 3

A man smokes a cigarette in a couple of scenes. A man uses a liquid chemical on a piece of cloth to render another man unconscious. We hear about drug use and abuse and a man breaks into a clinic to get drugs to feed his habit.

Frightening/Intense Scenes: 8

The film is intense from start to finish. It contains many gore filled scenes and several violent scenes that range in intensity. There are several scenes that are intended to shock and scare the audience.

An idea of how accurate the TECE (below) is: 5-10 is a little-kid suitable, G-Rated type of film (i.e. Care Bears, Sleeping Beauty); 10-15 is going to be a little harsher, but not by much (i.e. The Incredibles); 15-20 could be pretty high up there (i.e. Indiana Jones), 20-25 is going to pretty darn adult (i.e. The Dark Knight); 25-30 is going to be a film most likely not suitable for anyone under 17 (i.e. Braveheart); 30-40 is going to be an absolutely, positively adults-only film (i.e. THIS) and if a movie has ever gone past 40, then I haven't heard of it.

Total Explicit Content Estimation: 33/50.
