Now mind you this is just rumor for now, but if proven true, it will probably be one of the longest theatrical to DVD transitions ever.
VideoETA, which is usually pretty reliable, reports that The Collector is supposedly scheduled for home video release many months from now. April 2010 to be exact. Guess we will see what happens, but still ... wow.
Co-written by Marcus Dunstan and his Feast and Saw IV thru VI collaborator Patrick Melton, The Collector was produced by Fortress Features’ Brett Forbes and Patrick Rizzotti and Imaginarium Entertainment Group’s Julie Richardson and stars Josh Stewart (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Criminal Minds) as “handyman and ex-con Arkin (according to Liddell Ent.’s pr), who aims to repay a debt to his ex-wife by robbing his new employer’s country home. Unfortunately for Arkin, a far worse enemy has already laid claim to the property – and the family.

The apocalypse goes "1970s pop sci-fi" in The Arcadian

The Arcadian is an upcoming post-apocalyptic adventure that follows actor J. Larose (of Saw III, Saw IV, and Repo! The Genetic Opera fame) as an enigmatic warrior called "The Lighthouse Keeper" who goes on a quest for "revenge and redemption in a strange future world" we're told is "reminiscent of wild 1970s pop sci-fi."
Inspired in equal parts by samurai movies, rock operas, and underground comics, we're told that the visual world of The Arcadian will be an homage to the work of underground illustrators and be something quite unique due to the fact that it was shot entirely on a Canon 5D Mark II camera - chosen for its unparalleled low-light sensitivity.
The Arcadian has just wrapped principle photography and is heading into an intense round of post. It is due Q2, 2010.
To make up for the fact that we have no detailed plot synopsis yet, we've included a

Uwe Boll’s Far Cry Trailer: A Return to Form for Dr. Boll

After seeing his latest film Rampage at Fantastic Fest just last month, we thought we'd seen a turning point for director Uwe Boll. Finally, the man had delivered a gritty, intense action movie that rose above his usual bit of schlock. For once, he had delivered something worth talking about in a positive way -- worth recommending to friends and countrymen. It had me excited to see where he would go next in his always-busy schedule of film releases.
Which brings us to Far Cry, yet another adaptation of a popular video game. Like Boll's previous adaptations of games such as Bloodrayne, House of the Dead, Dungeon Siege and Postal, Far Cry appears to be a mess of the highest order. At least, that's what I've gathered from this first teaser trailer, which comes courtesy of IGN. Since his role in Inglourious Basterds, I've thought Til Schwiger to be one of the more badass actors in Hollywood

Lionsgate To Continue Saw Franchise

Drug addicts, doctors, renegade police offices and anyone else that may need “to help themselves” should stay on edge as it looks like the Jigsaw Killer will be on the lamb for the foreseeable future as Lionsgate recently stated that they will continue making the Rube Goldberg horror series Saw “as long as we make money.”
Lionsgate vice chairman Michael Burns spoke those exact words at the Median and Money conference in New York on Thursday. To further prove his point, the confident Burns states that Dirty Dancing, 20 years after its debut, still sells an average of 2,000 DVDs per day.
While the most recent Saw VI didn’t perform as well as its predecessors, most people are attributing its dramatic drop off to the phenomenon of Paranormal Activity. I know most people say that the Saw stories aren’t good and it’s the same thing over and over, but

Surprise! Saw VII Set For Release Next Halloween!

Saw VI didn't exactly live up to box office expectations, but that hasn't stopped Lionsgate from grabbing October 22, 2010 for Saw VII. Saw VII is already in pre-production, with David Hackl returning from Saw V to direct a script from Saw IV, V, and VI screenwriters Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton.
Saw VII will follow the twisted adventures of Detective Hoffman (Costas Mandylor), with Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) returning in flashbacks. Bell already has an idea of what Jigsaw in 3-D will be like.

This Is It was all there was as far as new nationwide releases went this Halloween weekend, but it was sufficient to help propel overall business nine percent higher than the same timeframe last year.
Though it may not be commensurate with the raft of pre-release hype surrounding the movie and Michael Jackson's death, This Is It performed exceptionally well for a concert picture or music documentary, charting second only to the opening of the Hannah Montana concert. It raked in an estimated $21.3 million on approximately 5,500 screens at 3,481 sites, ranking as the fifth highest-grossing Halloween debut on record, and has grossed $32.5 million in five and a half days. Add in foreign grosses of an estimated $68.5 million from 98 countries, and This Is It's five-day worldwide haul was $101 million, which exceeded the lifetime tally of the Hannah Montana concert.
While morbid curiosity was part of the appeal, spurred

On Thursday October 29th, as a special Halloween surprise, Hatchet was added last minute as part of a triple feature to Slasherpalooza, an event sponsored by Bloody-Disgusting which took place at The Cinefamily (aka the Silent Movie Theater) here in Los Angeles, California.
On hand for a post-screening Q & A was writer/director Adam Green, stars Tamara Feldman (Mary Beth), Joleigh Fioravanti (Jenna) and composer Andy Garfield. The following is a transcription of the entire Q & A, which was moderated by Marcus Dunstan, screenwriter of the Feast films, as well as Saw IV , Saw V and Saw VI .
Marcus Dunstan: In honor of Halloween, this is a two part question. Firstly, what is your favorite horror movie? And second question is a little more layered. Why do you love the

The end of October. This means changes in weather, the end of baseball, lots of parties with women dressed up in "sexy" versions of everything from Strawberry Shortcake to nuns, and another Saw movie to be unleashed upon the multiplexes.
You know, I gotta hand it to the filmmakers. They've crafted a wholly original new series of cheap thrillers that don't require much money, and have led it to the greatest grossing horror series of all time!
On top of which, we're six movies in, and they haven't resorted to 3-D releases, a prequel set in the old west, or Jigsaw in space yet, which means there must still be plenty of needlessly complex methods of killing people with common household rusted objects. Although I hear the next one will probably be in 3-D, so Saw VIII will probably take place aboard the Nsa Jigsaw
Anyway, with the release of

Rumor: Tobe Hooper Might Direct Twisted’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre Remake/Sequel?

As it stands, this is a rumor at best and, more accurately, an informed online endorsement that could easily pick up steam amongst horror fans and online. Either way, it's the weekend and the thought of Tobe Hooper, creator of Leatherface and director of 1974's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and its huggable '86 sequel, once again revving up the genre's best 'saw hadn't crossed my mind. It should have. According to Shock's Ryan Rotten, while attending a party for Saw IV, he saw Hooper hanging with TCM2's Bill Moseley and, more importantly, the team at Twisted Pictures. Dots connected, and Rotten has fully thrown his support behind Hooper's possible involvement.
I know, oohlala. But as we reported (and as Russ understandably bemoaned), Twisted Pictures purchased the franchise's rights from the metallic douches at Platinum Dunes. Twisted's first installment, vaguely said to be a contemporary take and possibly a

Six years! Six movies! Can you believe it? It seems like it was just yesterday we were all hearing about this twisted short film by some whippersnappers named James Wan and Leigh Whannell, but today their baby "Saw" is the flagship franchise for the entire horror film industry. Jigsaw (Tobin Bell), the series' constant villain, has joined the pantheon of scary movie greats like Freddy Krueger and Michael Myers. It's even recognized as the series that brought the horror subgenre of "torture porn" to the masses. Yes, it's a different world we live in.
Indeed it's hard to imagine a world without "Saw". And why should we expect there to ever be such a thing? The "Saw VI" writing team of Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton are already signed on to work through "Saw VIII." Seeing as how people are still turning out in droves to see Jigsaw's latest deathtraps every autumn,

They're not allowed to publicly speak about what went wrong with Saw V , which was critically torn asunder, even by the most devout fans of the series, like it was a victim of Jigsaw's many traps, but writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton will gladly talk to you about how Saw VI is an improvement.
This latest entry, directed by series editor Kevin Greutert (making his directorial debut) and coming to theaters October 23, is the third Saw film penned by the duo, also behind this summer's The Collector and the Feast trilogy. They've had the unenviable task of picking up a storyline which found its principle antagonist, Jigsaw (aka John Kramer) dead. For Saw IV they deftly met that challenge head-on by telling a story than ran parallel to Saw III . In Saw V ,

You Won't Believe What Saw's Detective Hoffman Has to Say

Costas Mandylor hasn.t been able to say much about Saw. When he joined his costars from Saw IV for interviews, he kept quiet the whole time because he didn.t want to spoil his big secret. He didn.t even come out for Saw V, so Saw VI is really the first time he.s talking about his role in the series.
Costas Mandylor on Saw VI
.I love one thing, the story line, the through line,. Mandylor said. .The main storyline is very plausible because it relates to the real world and how difficult it is for people. It.s to do with medicine and being taken care of. That.s what I liked. I mean, I love everything else about it but it.s just cool to have a story that makes sense that people can relate to..
So he.s still deflecting Saw VI onto other characters.

'Saw VI' And 'Cirque Du Freak' Call For An Early Halloween In This Week's Box Office Poll

It's a strange week for new releases, primarily because the latest, sixth entry in the "Saw" franchise is hitting theaters a full week before Halloween. Traditionally, each new "Saw" hits on the Friday before the year's trick or treaters emerge. Following a trend set with last year's "Saw V," the new entry will have a week to breathe before the Halloween festivities begin. Expect lots more Jigsaw puzzling and gore-nography in "Saw VI," which joins newcomer director Kevin Greutert with writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, who penned "Saw IV" onwards.
Also somewhat in the horror vein -- though more in the "hey, vampires are popular vein" -- this week is "Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant," which I caught a few weeks ago and am sort of regarding as a male-oriented attempt to latch onto the "Twilight" phenomenon. I wasn't a huge fan of the movie, but it is

Darren Lynn Bousman Celebrating ‘Mother’s Day’ Early

Darren Lynn Bousman (director Saw IV and Repo! The Genetic Opera) debuted via Twitter the first official image (seen above) of his horror-thriller film remake, Mother's Day. Also found on the net today is a short, Add-style behind-the-scenes peek. Best moment of the video? Bousman showing off a text message and saying, "Quote of the day from Jamie King: 'Oh my God, you seriously just dragged my ass!'". That's better than the quote of the day here at Reject HQ, which was Dr. Cole Abaius saying, "Hey guys, the apartment's on fire." (Everything's okay now. Worry not.)
Mother's Day is a Charles Kaufman directed exploitation piece from 1980, about three women terrorized by two guys who will do anything to impress their mother -- including rape, torture, and murder. That's an Oedipus complex that not even Freud would touch. Well played, Bousman. The Mother's Day remake is currently filming in Canada. Have
