"I won't tell anybody."
How many times have you said that, or heard others say it....only to have that promise broken? That's what happens here when Rick and his buddies are assigned the job of counting the ballots for Prom Queen. Rick's girl Terry hopes to win, as all the girls do, and Rick and the boys are sworn to secrecy. That's important since Rick has a date with Terry that night and you know she's going to try to get the information out of him.
First, Ricky winds up getting tricked by mom, falling for the old "Hey, I heard Terry won the contest."
"How did you find out, mom?"
"I didn't until you just told me now."
Now the whole family knows. At his date that night, Rick falls for a similar line and now Terry knows she won, too. Of course, she says she won't tell but that lasts about two minutes. Now all the girls know.
The problem arises when one of the guys finds out one of the ballot boxes wasn't counted. They had forgotten the one in the chemistry department. Now Rick is sweating, big-time. What if his girl turns out to be the loser?
The suspense builds to the point where Ricky faints!! That's pretty funny, but the show ends on a nice musical note with him singing a couple of ballads, one with his girl, and then the two of them jitterbugging to a number as the ending credits roll.
Who won the contest? I can't tell. Watch the episode. It's part of "The Best Of The Adventures Of Ozzie & Harriet" DVD. This is on disc three.
