The soldiers are seen wearing medieval kettle hats (Chapel de Fer), plus chain mail coifs. Both are several hundred years out of date. The correct helmet (if any) would be morions or cabassets.
The colonists appear to be using flintlocks which would not be invented for another 30 years or so, first appearing in France in 1610. Matchlocks were the high-tech weapon of the 16th century.
Around minute 30, a "Halloween" celebration takes place (as said by the main character), something totally impossible since this celebration did not exist as such until the 19th century.
The coastline of Virginia and North Carolina looked much different in 1580 than they do more than 400 years later.
At the beginning of the film an on-screen graphic identifies the location as "Roanoke Island, Virginia". Although today the island is part of North Carolina, in 1580, the colony was in what was then Virginia, named in honor of the reigning British monarch, Queen Elizabeth I. The only child to have been born there, Virginia Dare, was also named for the place she was born.
