• Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Jason refers to the Monkey King's staff as a "bo staff." However, the "bo staff" is a Japanese, not Chinese, name for such a weapon.
  
  
• Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Jason makes reference to the game Virtua Fighter 2, and states that a character uses the "Buddha's Palm" technique. The only Virtua Fighter character that uses the move is Lei Fei. Lei Fei did not appear in the series until the fourth installment, and didn't get the "Buddha's Palm" move until Virtua Fighter 5.
  
  
• Continuity: In the fight between The Monk and Jade Warlord, Warlord cuts Monks shoulder with pole-arm and his robe is getting soaked in blood. Camera changes, and there is no cut or blood. Later on, it is visible again.
  
  

• Continuity: When the Jade Warlord slams the Silent Monk onto the Monkey King's altar at the end, it cuts to a different shot and the Silent Monk disappears, reappearing in the next shot.
  
  
• Continuity: When Jason is fighting the witch in the Jade castle, he jumps to recover the staff. You can clearly see that he has his hands on the pole when lands. In the next shot, the pole is several feet away from him. The shot after that, it's just within fingers reach.
  
  
• Factual errors: The silent Monk tells Jason they should attack "In two nights, when the moon will be darker." But later that night in the balcony scene with Jason and Golden Sparrow the moon is clearly waxing, and will be almost half full in two nights - brighter not darker.
  
  
• Factual errors: The folklore associated with the Monkey King only has Five Finger Mountain, not Five Element Mountain. The mountain depicted in the movie is even shaped like five fingers. Hence Five Element Mountain is a mistranslation.
  
  
• Continuity: Before Jason, Lu Yan, Golden Sparrow and the Silent Monk enter the desert, they were riding horses. As they enter the desert they are suddenly on foot. When Lu Yan wants to make water with magic and the Silent Monk starts urinating on his head from a rock, the Silent Monk tells them there is a body of water and as they run towards the sight they see at the foot of the dark clouded Five Element Mountain. A moment later we see Jason getting trained in a bamboo forest by the Silent Monk and Lu Yan. After those shots Jason walks up to Golden Sparrow playing a snared instrument between blossom trees and he forgets to kiss the fabulous lips of Golden Sparrow. Then suddenly the White Haired Witch comes running over the pink blossomed trees and after a fight with her and her ever oncoming hordes of soldiers, our heroes decide to flee, jump on the suddenly reappeared ready horses and gallop off.
  
  

• Crew or equipment visible: SPOILER: In the fight between Jason and the bully at the end of the film, the bully's black padding is visible under his white sleeveless t-shirt.
