Part of the appeal of Cold Case is to see previous unsolved crimes unraveled in an engaging story line with emotion, twists and ultimately a grand finish.
This episode seemed to go nowhere with no direction the entire episode. First of all, the victim being only 6 months old had something to do with it, as we never got the chance to put ourself in the victim's shoes. The parents were not very interesting either. The two babysitters had potential but were not given enough time in the show. Overall the episode was a drag and led to one of the most anti-climatic finishes in the show's history. Add in yet another half-hearted attempt to go into the character's personal lives(in this case, Lily) it was hard to stay focused on this one. Why do they even bother? Might as well give more time to the main plot, unless they just use these personal life side stories(more like side scenes) as filler.
Definitely not one of the bright spots of this series, and a shame it would be if someone were to watch the show for the first time and see this episode. It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't come back for seconds.
