A man is arrested just days after being released from Prison for beating his wife, his son Tony is seriously assaulted, it's assumed his father is up to his old tricks.
It's a grim story, it doesn't hold back, it shows the effects domestic violence can have on a family, but even when the time is done, the scars are still visible, the team are quick to take action, and learn the truth.
A story which shows that you never truly know what's going on behind closed doors.
Gabrielle Lloyd is great here as Carole Clay, she's such an interesting character, and a terrific actress, would The Inspector Morse team perhaps have watched this when they considered her for her part in The Daughters of Cain, one of the best things ever made in my opinion, a story which features a shocking level of domestic violence, but also a story of revenge.
8/10.
