Alvaro Zendejas wrote the poem when he was 17, while still in high school. He finished the short film in college at 23 years old.
The original concept of the short film called for a male victim, but this was changed to female, because no one else was available to act.
The short film includes three voice tracks for the narration of the poem: One was recorded in 2001, the other in 2005, and the other in 2006.
The last werewolf howl heard on the end credits is the director's digitally modified voice.
