Now mind you this is just rumor for now, but if proven true, it will probably be one of the longest theatrical to DVD transitions ever.
VideoETA, which is usually pretty reliable, reports that The Collector is supposedly scheduled for home video release many months from now. April 2010 to be exact. Guess we will see what happens, but still ... wow.
Co-written by Marcus Dunstan and his Feast and Saw IV thru VI collaborator Patrick Melton, The Collector was produced by Fortress Features’ Brett Forbes and Patrick Rizzotti and Imaginarium Entertainment Group’s Julie Richardson and stars Josh Stewart (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Criminal Minds) as “handyman and ex-con Arkin (according to Liddell Ent.’s pr), who aims to repay a debt to his ex-wife by robbing his new employer’s country home. Unfortunately for Arkin, a far worse enemy has already laid claim to the property – and the family.

Update: Blu-Ray.com has The Collector listed for a April 6th release date.
While we're still awaiting official word, VideoETA has a tentative April 2010 release date pegged for the release of Marcus Dunstan's directorial debut The Collector , which saw a limited theatrical run this past summer.
Co-scripted by Dunstan with writing partner Patrick Melton (the same duo behind Saw IV , Saw V and Saw VI , as well as the Feast trilogy), The Collector is about an ex-con who breaks into the country home of his wealthy employer in an effort to steal a valuable jewel only to realize that his family has been abducted by a masked killer who has rigged the house with deadly traps.
The flick stars Josh Stewart, Andrea Roth, Michael Reilly Burke, Madeline Zima, Karley Scott

Whatever Happened to 'Tekken'?

Splendid news regarding the upcoming 'Tekken' movie adaptation, unless you’re a fan of the video game series who doesn’t speak German.
According to Variety, Splendid Film has acquired the rights to 'Tekken', along with a number of other fantasy and horror movies, for distribution in the German-speaking territories. The other films include Marcus Nispel’s upcoming Conan; the horror-thriller The Collector, helmed by Marcus Dunstan; and Mr. Nobody, a supernatural thriller starring Val Kilmer.
Dwight Little’s Tekken was the film that really grabbed my attention, since I recall the announcement of it roughly two years ago. It premiered at the American Film Market last month, but its current U.S. distributors — The Weinstein Company, Summit Entertainment, and Crystal Sky Pictures — have remained relatively quiet. Unfortunately, the combination of only a vague U.S. 2010 release date, along with the announcement of an overseas distributor

Saw VII (In 3D) Gets 2010 Release

No matter how it silly it may seem that the Saw franchise has gone on for this long, it doesn’t stop them from making money and (I stress this word) consequentially making more. We reported back in July that Saw VII was already in the works before the sixth one came out (they’re pretty much automatic cash for the studio so they have no problem putting that kind of faith in it).
However, what wasn’t known at the time (either that, or it flew passed us quicker than we could catch it) was that the seventh installment of Saw would be in 3D. Yes, even the franchise that effectively kicked off the torture-porn phenomenon less than 10 years ago has jumped aboard the 3D bandwagon. And something tells me the technology isn’t going to be employed subtly (read: correctly)…

They're not allowed to publicly speak about what went wrong with Saw V , which was critically torn asunder, even by the most devout fans of the series, like it was a victim of Jigsaw's many traps, but writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton will gladly talk to you about how Saw VI is an improvement.
This latest entry, directed by series editor Kevin Greutert (making his directorial debut) and coming to theaters October 23, is the third Saw film penned by the duo, also behind this summer's The Collector and the Feast trilogy. They've had the unenviable task of picking up a storyline which found its principle antagonist, Jigsaw (aka John Kramer) dead. For Saw IV they deftly met that challenge head-on by telling a story than ran parallel to Saw III . In Saw V ,

Audiences got hit with a particularly nasty indie picture this summer entitled The Collector from director and co-writer Marcus Dunstan (of the Saw ) franchise.
After bouncing out of Dimension Films' arms, the film found a home at Freestyle Releasing who gave it a limited theatrical run in July. The film made roughly triple its budget, a coup for Dunstan who is currently at work on the DVD release.
"I just turned in the chapter lists, such fine titles like 'Beware of Dog,' and 'Beware of Arkin,'" he laughs. "They're aiming for a January release and this month it's all about getting the extras together. There are a bunch but I don't want to put a boring scene in there because we cut it for a reason. Why don't I put something that's funny, cool or a

Shortly before the plug was temporarily pulled on Halloween 3D , director Patrick Lussier called on an old friend for FX and Myers mask-making duties.
Gary Tunnicliffe began work, briefly, on the production. Then Dimension halted development until Lussier could finish Drive Angry . The FX artist executed the kills in Lussier's My Bloody Valentine 3D . His credits in the Halloween franchise include Halloween: Resurrection (pictured) and Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers .
This summer, audiences saw his grisly gore gags in Marcus Dunstan's The Collector and he's presently working on the remake of Straw Dogs .
Halloween 3D is expected to resume production sometime next spring.

Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, the writers of Saw IV, Saw V, Saw VI & the recently released The Collector have teamed up with Clive Barker for a Warner Brothers television series titled Clive Barker's Hotel. The Hollywood Reporter says, "Plot details are being kept under wraps, but "Clive Barker's Hotel" is expected to follow a series of ghoulish incidents at a haunted hotel. Barker, the creator of the landmark horror franchise "Hellraiser" and other well-known genre properties, is attached to produce, while McG's Wonderland Sound and Vision is in talks to produce. Barker associate Joe Daley will co-produce."
The writing duo is no stranger to Barker's material as they were among the many writers that took a crack at the still in-development Hellraiser remake. (You can read more about that in our recent chat with them Here.) The series is still in the early stages, so we'll

On television, the horror anthology will never die. Now, according to the RiskyBiz Blog, Clive Barker is teaming up with Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, the writers of the latter half of the Saw franchise and the recent horror pic The Collector, which Dunstan also directed, to create a new show called Clive Barker's Hotel. Dunstan and Melton have sold their pitch to Warner Bros. Television, and already networks are looking at it as a potential series.
Dunstan and Melton hooked up with Barker when they worked on one of the many abandoned drafts of the Hellraiser remake (still stuck in development hell) and ended up cooking up the idea for this series, which Barker will produce. RiskyBiz doesn't have a lot of details, but says the thing "is expected to follow a series of ghoulish incidents at a haunted hotel." Which is all you really need for a

Plot details are under wraps, however, the thrust of the series is set at a haunted hotel. Warner Bros. Television is now shopping it to a number of networks.

While we always need more horror in cinemas, where it's really missing is on TV. HBO's True Blood is helping to fix things as great projects - like The Walking Dead - are being announced. If The Walking Dead news wasn't kickass enough, Clive Barker is teaming up with Saw IV-VII scribes Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, who just saw the release of their feature film The Collector in theaters last month, for a horror tale taking residence in a Hotel.
