Poor end to a poor season, 20 December 2006

I am disappointed with the episode. It promised much but did not live up to expectations, despite a 3 month wait since the last episode (#8.10) was broadcast back in September 2006. A lot of loose ends still hanging, including the fact that Buxton's body is not officially discovered and Sylvia Hollomby promising to turn over a new leaf, but doesn't QUITE make it.

The episode is also noticeable for the several absentees. Governor Joy Masterson is not around, neither is Lou (deputy governor played by Amanda Donohoe), and Pat Kerrigan only has a couple of lines and is absent for the best part of the episode.

It's a poor end to what was once a brilliant show. I am not surprised the show has been cancelled, as it has not been at all entertaining since the end of Series 7 and the demise of Jim Fenner's character.

The episode focuses more on the birth of Janine's baby, delivered surprisingly by Bev in the cell, and a weird ghostly dream where Natalie Buxton makes one last appearance to torment Hollomby.

Make of it what you will... me personally, I am disappointed.

Can't wait for the DVD now!!!!!
