Judd Apatow Lets Internet Interview Him, Here Come ‘Freaks and Geeks’

16 November 2009 2:57 PM, PST | Tubefilter.tv | See recent Tubefilter News news »

Judd Apatow is letting the internet interview him, live, on Funny or Die's Writers Room series this Wednesday at 12:30 Pst. They are taking questions for the famed comedy writer-director (Superbad, Anchorman, Pineapple Express) on Facebook and so far 160 people have submitted their pressing inquests. From the looks of it, this could be worth a new lunchtime browser window. Over/Under on number of Freaks and Geeks questions is 4. Some highlights: Would you ever consider making us a good, R-Rated cartoon? Far too few of them. (Jim Moore) The Three Men and a Baby trilogy will be finishing up with Three Men and a Bride, fans of the trilogy are dying to know if you will be working on this much awaited project? (Dave Hanson) How come "Walk Hard" tanked so hard? That one was kinda not too shitty. And when I say "not too shitty", I mean "I could »

John C. Reilly And Mary-Louise Parker In Talks To Join 'Red' Cast

5 November 2009 7:41 AM, PST | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

"Walk Hard" star John C. Reilly and Mary-Louise Parker ("Weeds") are reportedly in negotiations to join the cast of “Red”, an adaptation of Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner’s miniseries created in 2003 for Wildstorm.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reilly would portray a retired CIA agent who is paranoid that everyone is out to kill him while Parker would play a federal pension worker who is romantically involved with Bruce Willis’ lead character and becomes entangled in his struggle to evade the high-tech assassins out to kill him. Morgan Freeman is also attached to play a leading role.

“Red” appears to be picking up steam as it heads in front of the cameras in January. Earlier this week, it was announced that Helen Mirren has been cast in a role rumored to be the former handler of Willis’ character. The film is also tentatively scheduled to be released in November »

A 'Twilight' Actor As Sid Vicious, The World Series And Gwen Stefani In Today's Twitter-Wood

2 November 2009 4:00 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Halloween tweets were way more interesting this morning since everyone was posting actual photos instead of just being indecisive about what to wear. "Twilight" star Billy Burke took the crown for most authentic, though, with his Sid Vicious outfit. He pretty much nailed the Sex Pistols' late bassist.

"Toy Story 3" director, Lee Unkrich, meanwhile retweeted a few incoming photos he received of well crafted character costumes. Gwen Stefani stood out from the pack in that batch, doing Woody's gal pal Jessie from "Toy Story 2." Then there was Fred Durst, who appears to have put a leg up on December, posting a shot of the Christmas tree he just set up in his living room. Check out all of those, as well as reactions from the World Series, Rob Zombie and John Stamos. They're all waiting after the jump in the Twitter-Wood report for November 2, 2009.

Fake 'Twilight' Actors Looking To Make Out And Baseball's World Series In Today's Twitter-Wood

29 October 2009 4:30 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

"Twilight" actress Anna Kendrick has a clever friend who's not above impersonating an "Eclipse" actor to make out with unsuspecting prey, so next time someone walks up you at a club telling you they've been filming with David Slade recently, double-check IMDb. Slade, meanwhile, announced an "official" wrap to "Eclipse" filming yesterday, following last week's tweeted wrap by Christian Serratos.

Elsewhere in Twitter-Wood, Rob Zombie noted the passing of former Danzig drummer Chuck Biscuits with a memorial post. The World Series had much of Twitter's attention as Ice-t captured a picture from the stands and Paul Feig pondered the art sunflower seed spitting. You can catch all of that, a Dalek and Emmy Rossum's Ferragamo dress fears after the jump in the Twitter-Wood report for October 29, 2009.

John C. Reilly Exclusive Video Interview Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’S Assistant

22 October 2009 5:03 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Opening tomorrow is “Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant”. The movie is directed by Paul Weitz and it’s an adaptation of “The Saga of Darren Shan”, a very popular book series by Darren Shan. Since the movie couldn’t combine all twelve books, they’ve taken the first three and used that as the story. Obviously if the film is successful, they’ll use the rest of the series to make more movies.

Anyway, Universal recently held a press day and I was able to speak with John C. Reilly. We talked about if he went after the role or did it come to him, what it was like to film in Louisiana, how familiar was he with the series, and he talked about his next project “Cedar Rapids”. Check out what he said after the jump:

Richard Kelly's Balloon Boy Movie, Frankie Muniz' Brush With Death And Jesus In Today's Twitter-Wood

16 October 2009 3:30 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

If the rights to the balloon boy story haven't been swiped up yet, they may have a buyer in "Donnie Darko" director Richard Kelly. He tweeted his questionable interest today even as balloon boy mania continued to occupy posts all over Twitter-Wood. Someone has apparently even started up a fake @BoyInTheBalloon account, which reached out to Andy Milonakis.

In other tweetage, Frankie Muniz survived a run-in with a dangerous snake, which may have come closer to killing him than any race he's driven in. Read all of those tweets along with pics from a couple "Twilight" actors, Fred Durst's anti-Facebook stance and the film that even Jesus apparently supports. They're all after the jump in the Twitter-Wood report for October 16, 2009.

Fred Has Fun Playing With Black Dynamite

16 October 2009 1:25 AM, PDT | www.canmag.com | See recent CanMag news »

Black Dynamite totally captures the .70s style in a knowing spoof and irreverent homage to the Blaxploitation genre. It.s better than I.m Gonna Git You Sucka and more fun than Tarantino.s tedious later efforts like Death Proof and Inglourious Basterds (WWII I know, but he.s always .70s style.)

Review: Black Dynamite

The use of zooms alone defines Black Dynamite.s style, but they have more .70s tricks too. Their use is strategic and skillful, not just wild camera because nobody cares. They care, a lot. They play with split screens, phone voiceover, even theme songs in a self-knowing wink, but it never becomes smarmy or superior.

It.s got a sort of Walk Hard tone of performance, which won.t do the marketing department any favors but it.s a high watermark for satire. Characters announce their ages and speak morals and ultimatums with melodramatic sincerity. »

Interview With The Vampire: John C. Reilly

5 October 2009 | shocktillyoudrop.com | See recent shocktillyoudrop news »

Let's be honest. John C. Reilly isn't exactly the first person you would think of when "vampire" comes to mind. Yet, here he is, starring in Cirque Du Freak , director Paul Weitz's adaptation of the first three novels in author Darren Shan's series. Surprisingly enough, he pulls it off as Larten Crepsley, in spite of that wild hair, not to mention everyone's current perception of Reilly being a comedy actor ( Walk Hard , Step Brothers ). However, if you trace his career, he has always been one to throw us off guard, from his early days in Brian De Palma's Casualties of War to Dolores Claiborne , Paul Anderson's Boogie Nights and Magnolia , Chicago and Martin Scorsese's Gangs of New York and The Aviator . This month, he's a 220-year-old bloodsucker who... »

Bikini girl Jenna Fischer lands the cover of Shape Magazine

4 October 2009 12:22 PM, PDT | ReelLoop.com | See recent Reel Loop news »

k

You may be hard pressed to find somebody that doesn’t like Jenna Fischer. From her take as the quirky Pam in NBC’s The Office to her role as Dewey Cox’s Ms. Thang in Walk Hard, Fishcer is everywhere including the upcoming cover to Shape Magazine’s November issue.

You know…it helps that Jenna Fischer is hot too. That’s not hurting anything.

The lovely Ms. Fischer was on The Jay Leno Show where she debuted the cover. The image sucks because it’s a screen grab but check back in for some HQ quality shots of the cover including the spread.

Because your trip here was not vain, here’s some pics of Jenna Fischer. Diego aims to please:

Fantastic Fest '09: The Vampire's Assistant

27 September 2009 3:13 PM, PDT | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

There’s an overabundance right now to be sure when it comes to vampires and when you step back its actually pretty staggering how in the blood suckers are right now in just about every medium. That’s why its all the more impressive, and to this reviewer genuinely surprising, that Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant actually feels fresh.

Really, it shouldn’t be that much of a shock that The Vampire's Assistant is as good as it is. It does have John C. Reilly, Willem Dafoe and Salma Hayek (as the sexiest bearded lady you’ll ever see) who are all, if you recall, Oscar-nominated actors who in this case are even directed by an Oscar nominee in Paul Weitz (best adapted screenplay for About A Boy). Chris Massoglia as Darren and Josh Hutcherson as best friend Steve round out the cast. Hutcherson and Massoglia play best friends »

'Eclipse' Update From David Slade And Kevin Smith On 'Degrassi Goes Hollywood' In Today's Twitter-Wood

25 August 2009 4:00 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

David Slade may be experiencing some frustrations on the set of "Eclipse" right now, but none of them are coming from his lead cast members, according to his tweets today. The director spoke highly of "Twilight" lovebirds Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, but had less complimentary things to say about airplane noise overhead.

Director Kevin Smith, meanwhile, offered up some self-deprecating commentary on his appearance in the new full-length "Degrassi" movie, "Degrassi Goes Hollywood," where he returned to hob-nob with his favorite Canadian teen-stars. And speaking of teen-stars, I've got a shot of Frankie Muniz's recent hand injury in the Twitter Pic of the Day. Have a look at that along with other pics from Rachelle Lefevre and Neil Gaiman. Those and more lurk below in the the Twitter-Wood report for August 25, 2009.

'Twilight' Actors Without Accounts And A 'Harry Potter' Star Who May Get One In Today's Twitter-Wood

12 August 2009 3:00 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

From the first days of Twitter, fake accounts have been popping up on a weekly basis -- particularly for "Twilight" and "Harry Potter" actors. Peter Facinelli tweeted out loud and clear today that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart don't have Twitter names. Meanwhile, Tom Felton announced that following his success recruiting Warwick Davis, he may be close to convincing Daniel Radcliffe to come aboard.

There's plenty of room on the Internet for all of them if they make the move, but the Twitter-Wood feed's getting more and more crowded by the day. Virginia Madsen today became our first video poster of note, with a quick clip just off the set of what I'm assuming is "Father of Invention." Elsewhere, Demi Moore demonstrated once again what a valuable tool Twitter is for glimpsing into her marriage life with Ashton Kutcher. You can click down to check out all of those and »

Rose McGowan's 'Twilight' Shock And The 'Inglourious Basterds' Premiere In Today's Twitter-Wood

11 August 2009 3:30 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

The "Inglourious Basterds" premiere last night attracted a huge lineup of stars, and many of them, including Brett Ratner, Diablo Cody and Sarah Silverman shared their reactions today via tweets. The inspiration that Ratner drew for his remake of "The Boys from Brazil" will be of particular interest to movie fans, as his impassioned tweets certainly lit up the Twitter-Wood feed today.

Rose McGowan, meanwhile, cued up a copy of "Twilight" only to be quickly appalled by the murder of the innocent deer, which she announced on her account. All of these great moments, as well as Frankie Muniz's kickball match with the Jonas Brothers and Dax Shepard's "Rambo" party wound up below in the Twitter-Wood report for August 11, 2009.

In Appreciation of Margo Martindale

7 August 2009 1:03 PM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

Who's Margo Martindale? Oh, you know her. You might not know her name, but you recognize her. She's one of the busiest character actresses in Hollywood, having appeared in more than 100 movies and TV episodes in the last 20 years, and she's firmly in the "Hey! It's That Guy (or Gal)!") category of actors.

She plays the psychologist in the current film Orphan, but it was her guest appearance a couple weeks ago on HBO's Hung that really reminded me of how much I admire her. The reason she gets so many gigs, especially in guest-starring TV roles, is that she's highly skilled at making an impression even with only a few minutes of screen time. Part of this is due to her embracing (and making full use of) her physical characteristics: She's in her late 50s, pleasantly plump, somewhat matronly, a twinkle in her eye, a charming East Texas accent in her voice. »

Kristen Bell's George Carlin Musical And Rose McGowan's Desire To Do 'Mad Men' In Today's Twitter-Wood

5 August 2009 3:30 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

It may come to you as no surprise that Kristen Bell is a huge George Carlin fan. But did you know that she once co-composed a musical based on his comedy? The Twitter-Wood feed picked up a few details about her un-produced masterpiece today, and I have to say, someone should get that on stage -- soon!

Other Twitter-Wood revelations included Rose McGowan's willingness to appear on "Mad Men" -- yet another move I would support! Several other tweets may be slightly less shocking -- for instance, that Tom Felton's hair-dying adventures have resumed, or that Kevin Nealon makes jokes about Kim Jong Il. You'll understand when you read today's Twitter-Wood report below. But first, for those of us out there without ready access to a beach, here's Miley Cyrus laughing in our faces in the Twitter Pic of the Day.

First Trailer for ‘The Vampire’s Assistant’

5 August 2009 3:30 PM, PDT | The Flickcast | See recent The Flickcast news »

Seeing as how Vampires are all the rage these days, why not do a film with Walk Hard’s John C. Reilly as a century-old vampire in a cape? There is no wrong answer to that question, only Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant.

Based on the series of Cirque Du Freak books by Darren Shan, the film is a fantasy-adventure about a teenager who unknowingly breaks a 200-year-old truce between two warring factions of vampires. The trailer doesn’t really give off the “warring vampires” vibe, but rather Harry Potter meets Carnivale.

The film also stars Ken Watanabe, Josh Hutcherson, Patrick Fugit, Jane Krakowski and Salma Hayek. Cirque Du Freak hits theaters October 23. Check out the trailer after the jump.

The 'Twilight' Cast And Jon Favreau's Ride To Comic-Con In Today's Twitter-Wood

24 July 2009 3:30 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

The lines between celebrities and fans get thrown out the window in many cases at Comic-Con, and posts in the Twitter-Wood feed over the last few days have offered some great insight into who's gushing over whom. Today, Kevin Smith gets sappy about Neil Gaiman, Tyrese gets starry eyed about Jim Lee, and the "Twilight" crew was just happy to show up. I plucked a few pictures and tweets to illustrate.

Comic-Con International is only halfway over, though, and plenty more celebs are just now arriving at the party. "Iron Man 2" director Jon Favreau and Robert Rodriguez can be counted among them. Shoot on down below, and you'll catch details from them, Tom Felton's bizarre encounter at his car, and Wil Wheaton's candid take on Hollywood folks on the show floor. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for July 24, 2009.
