In the English dub, while fixing the window, Rat-Boy chatters away about 'Die Another Day' (2002) because it was the most recent Bond film at the time. In the original, he just talks about Bond in general.
In the English dub, Lupin compares the prospect of Goemon teaming up with Ratboy to "Gwyneth Paltrow and Larry Flynt", meaning that such a pairing is impossible. Flynt was a publisher of pornographic magazines. In 2015, just over a decade after the dub was produced, Paltrow bought one of Flynt's sex stores to turn it into a nightclub.
The original Ratboy was an infamous thief who was caught and tattooed in 1822, and banished from Edo. On August 8, 1831, he was captured again, and confessed to the burglary of over 100 samurai estates and the impressive theft of over 30,000 ryou throughout his 15-year career. He was tied to a horse and paraded in public before being beheaded at the Suzugamori execution grounds. His head was then publicly displayed on a stake. At the time of the arrest, Jirokichi was found to have very little money. This, combined with the public humiliation he dealt out to the daimyou, resulted in the popular legend that he gave the money to the poor, turning the petty crook into a Robin Hood-like folk hero. The fact that he died alone, serving his wives with divorce papers just prior to arrest in order to protect them from sharing in the punishment as the law decreed, further enhanced his stature.
We learn that Zenigata doesn't like James Bond.
