- A bizarre chain of events sends everything topsy-turvy: now Zenigata is on the run from Lupin!
- NASA has devised a top-secret formula to artificially create diamonds. Since this could potentially make all jewelry worthless (and thus half-kill the career of a diamond-robbing thief), Lupin and Jigen break into NASA to get the formula... only to find someone else has beaten them to it. A criminal syndicate sent its minions to extract the formula and hide it. The microfilm containing the formula is hid in a cavity in Inspector Zenigata's tooth. However, Zenigata has been recently seeing some doctors over his obsession with Lupin, and has been advised to forget all about Lupin and start a new leaf. And now a new chase begins: Zenigata doing his best to escape from Lupin!—Tenchi
- Zenigata thinks he's gone insane from trying to capture Lupin and really starts to loose it. One night a group of thugs plants a microfilm in the back of Zenigata's tooth. That microfilm has info on how to create artificial diamonds. Lupin wants those plans but Zenigata now freaks out every time he see a delusion of Lupin even though it really is Lupin.—J LeGault
- Lupin and Jigen break into NASA to find a synthetic diamond created by the organization, along with the microfilm with the details on creating it. However, when they get there, they find a diamond, but no microfilm. Over in San Francisco, Zenigata has been seeing hallucinations of Lupin. When he realizes that the figure before him is only a figment of his imagination, he becomes torn over whether to continue the chase, or to give up and go back to Japan. He vows to catch Lupin, but first decides to take a rest and goes back to his apartment. At a fancy hotel at night, Lupin and his comrades discuss their situation. Lupin believes that if gem-quality diamonds start being produced, the diamond market will bomb. Fujiko disagrees, and thinks she can make a profit from the microfilm. The same night, the two crooks who stole the microfilm break into Zenigata's apartment, sedate him with chloroform and hide the microfilm in one of the Inspector's teeth. The crooks return to their hideout and show their boss where they've hidden the loot. The boss turns out to be a disguised Lupin, who accidentally blows his cover by expressing astonishment at the fact that they hid the microfilm in the teeth of the thief's old rival. The two henchmen begin to make a run for it, but Goemon knocks them out. Now that Lupin and his gang know where the microfilm is, they have to capture Zenigata and get it. The next morning, Lupin shadows an even more bedraggled Zenigata, who thinks he's still seeing hallucinations of the thief. The Inspector goes to visit a psychiatrist, who tells him he needs to lighten up and forget about that master thief. After some cheering up, Zenigata happily walks the streets when he runs into Lupin, who had hoped to coax him into a situation where he could easily remove the microfilm. Thinking he's having a relapse, the poor delirious Inspector makes a break for it. After a long chase Zenigata thinks the hallucinations are gone, before he's caught by an airplane and accidentally dropped into a barn. The policeman calmly rides a tractor down the road into a tunnel. He sees that the road splits off and that one tunnel is closed for traffic, so takes the other one. However, Lupin switched the roadblock to lure Zenigata into a watery trap; the Inspector falls onto one of the tractor wheels and is knocked out cold. As Lupin is about to get to Zenigata, the two crooks from before arrive by boat and take the tractor along with Zenigata. Lupin tries an attempt to take Zenigata back, but a roll of dynamite blows him off. As Lupin emerges on the crook's boat, it's revealed that Fujiko hired the crooks to get the microfilm for herself. After Jigen disarms the crooks with a rifle, Fujiko gives in and decides to split the treasure with them. However, their attempt to remove the microfilm causes Zenigata to sneeze, causing the microfilm to go flying and sink to the bottom. Zenigata wakes up, back to his normal self, and sets off in pursuit of the gang.
