Hard Revenge, Milly: Bloody Battle Trailer is Quite Cool

Crazy, over-the-top Japanese action movies seem scientifically designed to appeal to someone with my warped cinematic sensibilities. “Tokyo Gore Police,” “Meatball Machine,” and “The Machine Girl” are all responsible for my current obsession with this sort of picture, though I’m sure “Robo-Geisha” and “Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl” will certainly do nothing to slow my endless salivation for extreme gore, outrageous martial arts, and, yes, Japanese girls beating the crap out of heavily-armed adversaries. “Hard Revenge, Milly: Bloody Battle” promises even more low-budget insanity, a fact which makes yours truly extremely happy. Am I sick in the head? A demented madman masquerading as a news aggregator? All of the above, my friend, and then some.
Here’s the film’s all about:
After Milly eliminates the Jack Brothers to avenge her family, a beautiful girl named Haru (Nao Nagasawa) approaches her for help avenging her own boyfriend. Milly initially brushes her off,

RoboGeisha Is Ready To Chainsaw Your Face

Out of all the movies I’ve been salivating over for the past few months, Noboru Iguchi’s upcoming sci-fi action extravaganza “RoboGeisha” is quickly climbing to the top of the list. As a hardcore fan of “The Meatball Machine,” Tokyo Gore Police,” and “The Machine Girl,” Iguchi’s gore-encrusted cinematic insanity appears to have been scientifically programmed to be as compatible with my tastes as humanly possible. The first trailer comes complete with bizarre gadgetry, a metric ton of bloody violence, and some of the corniest special effects I’ve seen all month. Of course, all of this is meant is the most complimentary way possible, as I’m an unabashed follower of all things cheesy and Japanese.
If I had a synopsis to post, I’d be more than happy to share it with you. Alas, there’s nothing to be found anywhere online, so you’ll have

Tokyo Gore Police (2008) Movie Review

In many ways, “Tokyo Gore Police” represents a culmination of the recent trend of Japanese ultra violent splatter sci-fi cinema. The film was directed by Nishimura Yoshihiro, whose pedigree in the field is impeccable, having worked on the special effects for other recent genre cult hits such as “The Machine Girl” and “Meatball Machine”, as well as on Sono Sion’s haunted hair thriller “Exte”. Here, he extends his own 1995 short film “Anatomia Extinction” to feature length, resulting in one of the wildest and bloodiest cinematic experiences of all time. Having become a must-see cult item around the world, the film finally makes its region 2 DVD debut via 4Digital Asia in a 2-disc version, coming complete with interviews, making of featurettes and promo reels.
The film is set in a futuristic Japan, where the fascist paramilitary Tokyo Police Corporation is locked in battle with the mysterious Key Man and his Engineers,

I want to live in Japan. Right now!
A bit of a darling around these parts as of late, Japanese cult director and gore wizard Yoshihiro Nishimura has plumb run out of space in his warehouse in the Shibuya ward of Tokyo. So what do you do when you’ve simply got too much stuff. Give it all away! That’s right, according to his blog, between August 8th and 10th the director is inviting fans and volunteers to help clear out his warehouse. You like that bloody skull over there from Machine Girl? Take it home. You want that penis nose prosthetic you saw in Tokyo Gore Police? Take it home. You like it? You want it? Take it, it’s yours!
There will be props from Yudai Yamaguchi’s “Meatball Machine” and “Elite Yankee Saburo”, Noboru Iguchi’s “Sukeban Boy” and of course Nishimura’s “Tokyo Gore Police” and “Vampire Girl vs.

Meatball Machine (2005) Movie Review

Originally released back in 2005, “Meatball Machine” was one of the films to kick-start the current trend of Japanese ultra violence and sci-fi gore which has resulted in the likes of “Machine Girl” and “Tokyo Gore Police”. The film was co-directed by Yudai Yamaguchi (also responsible for the crazed “Battlefield Baseball” and more recently the creepy “Tamami: The Baby’s Curse”) and Junichi Yamamoto, from whose original short film it was developed. Wild and gruesomely imaginative, the film is a distinctly anything goes affair, mixing demented alien parasites and biomechanical mutation with star struck romance, making for a truly unique and entertaining viewing experience. Having built up a well-deserved cult reputation since its original release, the film finally arrives on region 2 DVD through 4Digital Asia, and comes with a host of extras, including the original short films, a making of featurette and more.
After an intense opening scene in which two

If you’ve been reading Dread Central for any amount of time now, you’re no doubt familiar with our weekly Motion Picture Purgatory strip, furnished to us by Montreal’s Rick Trembles.
These densely packed works of art function both as film reviews and literate well researched essays, while at the same time providing the reader with a graphical component that is better able to capture the visual medium of film. Well that, and he draws a whole lot of genitals.
For the uninitiated, Trembles has been toiling away, writing weekly comic strip movie reviews since the 80’s. He estimates he’s reviewed in excess of 500 movies over the years and has spent more than 31 full days of his life sitting in theatres. Given the research and effort that goes into each strip, it’s nice to know that thanks to Fab Press’ second volume of Motion Picture Purgatory,

irector: Junichi Yamamoto and Yudai Yamaguchi. Review: Adam Wing.
Another day, another Japanese head-fuck. To be fair though, the plot for Meatball Machine reads like the latest best selling romance novel. A shy boy called Yoji (Issei Takahashi) works at a factory in a dead end job; he’s an outcast, a misfit, and a loner. Ignored and ridiculed by his workmates, he finds scant satisfaction each day watching a girl from across the way on his lunch break. The girls name is Sachiko (Aoba Kawai) and just like him, she’s shy too. More to the point, she’s liked Yoji from a distance for quite sometime. Even though he just kind of sits there and stares at her, not in the least bit creepy then. The only problem is, they're both really shy (have I mentioned that?) and it’s not until Sachiko is attacked by a rampaging sex maniac that romance blossoms.

Meatball Machine, an all out in your face gore-fest, sci-fi/horror is heading for release on UK DVD. Co directors Junichi Yamamoto and Yudai Yamaguchi (Battlefield Baseball) pull out all the stops on the bad taste front - in an assault on the senses that would keep any gore fan happy. Throw into the mix a story of doomed (infected) star crossed lovers and you have a mix for total mayhem. Special Features include: "The Making of Meatball Machine"; the original "Meatball Machine" short film; "Meatball Machine: Reject Of Death" short film; The Making of Meatball Machine: Reject Of Death"; "What's About Doi?" short film; original Japanese trailer; Necroborg designs by character designer Keita Amamiya. Meatball Machine is released in the UK by 4digitalmedia in July.

Blood Wrestling With Vampire Girl Vs Frankenstein Girl

With his work on such films as Meatball Machine, Tokyo Gore Police and Machine Girl, make-up guru Yoshihiro Nishimura is spearheading the recent Japanese gore movement. His latest, Vampire Girl Vs Frankenstein Girl, has just dropped its first trailer, and it appears to be a thoughtful dissertation on just how much blood the human body contains. Not since the heady days of William Beaudine and Santo have we seen such a delightful monster rally.
As happy as I am to be receiving even more outrageous gore, it doesn't appear as if the action choreography has gotten any better. While I enjoy the blood-soaked sight gags in these movies, they tend to lack that extra punch that comes with decent pacing, which unfortunately makes the exposition between the carnage that much more tiring. That said, if you're not squeamish please check out the trailer and let us know what you think.
