It's surprising that after the pretty big impact that original 'High School Musical', which was made directly for TV (it wasn't in cinema first and it wasn't made for Video (VHS/DVD)) made on teenage viewers (mostly girls), people in charge for making a sequel decided again to make a TV movie simply named 'High School Musical 2'. That's a pretty shame i think for those money-grabbing producers, because this movie would be a bigger cash-in if it came to cinema first and then on Video (as Hollywood blockbusters always do), but that's not so important anyway for the things i'm about to say for this movie i just recently watched.For me it was better than the original 'High School Musical' (which i watched a fairly long time ago), more fresh, more summerish and simply more fun. And i'm yet again (it's AGAIN so i can't say surprised because this thing doesn't come as a surprise to me anymore) a little bit disappointed that the most ratings for this movie are the lowest possible. That's just not either realistic or "normal" (which is different thing than "realistic" these days), it's simply hatred for the movie that's based on comments "it's gay". I on the other hand am not either big fan or big hater of this movie, i'm just trying to enjoy a movie for what it is and to me HSM 2 was overall decent entertainment. It does however bring the word "cheesy" a whole new level of meaning as you can obviously expect from this movie, and it's not necessarily a bad thing, it's not a great thing either, it's just good in fairly acceptable doses and i think that this movie is keeping that "cheesyness" much more controlled than the original HSM did. Zac Efron, well he isn't quite an actor in this movie, more like entertainer and fake singer. Liked him much more in 2009 '17 Again'. To conclude, if you're in the right mood to watch this film, maybe if you have appropriate company to watch it with and you might like it even more than i did.
