Great and very original comedy
vulture_culture26 June 2008
While attending to the Guadalajara Film Festival I could catch up with this film made in the CCC.

It's a really really funny comedy, very well written, finely directed, finely photographed, finely made and with a very original, even innovative way of telling the story.

It's the proof that Mexican filmmakers are good, and that there is more talent than we can see, or they let us to see. I hope that this film gets proper distribution because it's a very good option for the Mexican public to see.

Congratulations for it, and i hope to see more from this director, producers and screenwriters.

Good Comedy And An Interesting Exprerience.

Warning: Spoilers
Just saw "Conozca La Cabeza De Juan Pérez" with high expectations and fortunately enough it was as good as I expected.

Great script, very well acted, directed with style and quite innovative (at least for Mexican cinema).

I'll be honest with you, It is extremely hard for me to find a comedy that actually makes me laugh ("Shaun Of The Dead" being the exception) and even though this wasn't crying out loud hilarious it did manage to make me smile and even laugh at parts.

One thing I must say: "Conozca La Cabeza De Juan Pérez" may not be as funny for foreign people as it is for Mexicans, it has a lot of Mexican humor that may not be understandable to audiences unfamiliarized with our cultures (kinda like American comedies such as "Knocked Up" and "The Hangover") I do recommend "Conozca La Cabeza De Juan Pérez", it is an interesting and unusual experience not to be missed!!!

futile intent of a comedy

this film is a blur try of a film, it is not a comedy at all, it gives shame and it is utterly boring. i don't know what this guy was trying to do, but failed, come on man. the use of a guillotine to severe dogs heads as a joke¡¡, humans it is acceptable in a black comedy. but animals, and you expect us to laugh at that. what a shame. another waste of money on a bad try of a film. and don't get me wrong i love good black comedies as Nicotina, for example. or good dramas like Nesio and partes usadas, or like cosas insignificantes or like la vida inmune. but this film is not even a black comedy is a boring piece of a bad script. sorry but it is.

Totally failed comedy

I must confess i saw this movie because of the good comments post on this page. After losing about 1 and half hours of my life i feel compelled to write this review to warn others about being as disappointed as i am.

First, i am Mexican, and i try to support movies made in my country, but this the example of what not to do or how not to waste money making a movie.

This movie plays with some of the most sordid aspects of the Mexican society. Shows the pathetic life of some low level magician, and his cohort of friends who are also pathetic.

I didn't understand to which type of audience was the movie pretended, because the low class Mexican which kind of living is depicted in the movie would'n go to a teather to see it, not to mention that nobody is going to laugh of watching their own misery exalted and reflected on a movie. Medium and high class audience will be offended and insulted with poor argument and the lots of gross situations and the exaggerated scenes which plagues this movie, which i must say: does not reflect what life in this country is.

So, what was the movie idea? i don't know, i even fall asleep in some parts of the movie, and my wife and i came out of the teather feeling like robbed.

It makes me remember a time when low budget producers filmed movies about hookers and ordinary characters playing roles of plumbers, construction workers and so on... with lots of sexual thematic roles, plagued of insults, sexual harassment and every avoidable conduct.

in 3 words: Don't watch it!

P.S: sorry for my not so good English!
