Without a doubt, Doug Jones is one of our favorite actors. The personable, prolific performer always has some interesting projects to talk about, and he recently sat down with Dread Central to discuss some current and future endeavors.
Jones began by describing an intriguing new movie series. Space Command: Redemption is the first installment in a proposed franchise.
"It's an original piece by writer/director Mark Zicree, who has such a pedigree in writing for film and television in the science fiction genre," Jones said, "a hugely decorated writer who has written for everything from "Star Trek: Incarnation" to "Babylon 5" and beyond. So there's elements of all that. It's got all the trappings of a science fiction show that takes place in space, but it also has a warm, heartfelt soul that's unlike anything I've read and I think that's what attracted me to it. And to be surrounded...

It’s not often you hear about a stop motion feature-length film (Tim Burton’s upcoming Frankenweenie being the only other current one I can think of), much less an R-rated one, and by the sounds of it, Hell & Back is already shaping up very nicely.
Stand-up comedians and actors Nick Swardson and T.J. Miller will now be lending their voices for the film’s leading roles, Deadline report, in what will be,
“a comedy about two best friends who must rescue their pal when he is accidentally dragged to hell.”
The ShadowMachine film comes following the successes of Robot Chicken and Moral Orel that the production company have found with [adult swim]. Ross Schuman, who’s been a director on the latter and an art director on the former, will be co-directing alongside Tom Gianas, who’s worked in the past with the likes of Tenacious D and Cheech & Chong, and...

Tuesday night, hours before our start of Spirit Day, 19-year-old Corey Jackson hung himself. There’s no direct evidence of bullying of the gay Oakland University student, but let’s face it, we get bullied everyday just for being gay.
As evidence of that statement, I offer Maggie Gallagher’s editorial for the New York Post. She cites out of context “evidence” that marriage equality wouldn’t reduce the suicides, using Massachusetts as a sample. It hardly counts when that marriage isn’t valid when you cross the state line, Maggie. Or when newspapers think that there are two sides to this story that need to be aired. There is no opposing viewpoint to dead children.
It’s so bad that Facebook has teamed up with MTV, GLAAD, The Trevor Project, GLSEn and Pflag to create a “Network of Support.”
Meanwhile, thanks to a Facebook campaign, Ireland is looking at...

Benny Gammerman here, watching all the bad sh*t so you don't have to. What's on the slab tonight? That'll be the Doa Nick Swardson's Pretend Time, "fresh" off its Comedy Central premiere. Previously, I was under the impression that I quite liked Mr. Swardson. He left an indelible impression on me at an early age with his "Gay Robot" sketch on the Adam Sandler album "Shh...Don't Tell." He's pretty dang funny as Terry Bernardino on Reno 911!. And then there are his numerous screenwriting credits: Malibu's Most Wanted, Grandma's Boy, and The Benchwarmers... while outright winners they ain't, dude at least has some willing high-profile collaborators.

Trust me, after you watch the premiere of 'Nick Swardson's Pretend Time' (Tues., Oct. 12, 10Pm Et on Comedy Central), the 'Wheelchair Cat' theme song and the phrase "powdered donuts make me go nuts" are going to be stuck in your head.
Swardson, of stand-up comedy and movie fame ('Blades of Glory,' 'I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry,' 'You Don't Mess with the Zohan' and 'Benchwarmers'), also finally brings Gay Robot to the tube as a recurring character on the seven-episode first season of 'Pretend Time.' We'll also meet Wheelchair Cat (the feline who's living on a trust fund) and Garry Gaga, Lady Gaga's policeman brother who shares a sense of style with the pop star.
Swardson, who's best known to TV fans as 'Reno 911!''s roller-skatin', short-shorts-wearin' gay prostitute Terry Bernardino, talked to AOL TV about 'Pretend Time,...

Comedy Central seems to be pretty hungry for comedian-run sketch shows lately. They recently premiered the pilot of The Jeff Dunham Show to lukewarm reception, and another show starring Gabriel Iglesias and Bill Engvall is on the way. Earlier this week, yet another show was announced, in the form of a pilot for a show starring comedian Nick Swardson.
Swardson has made his way around the stand up circuit for years now, but most people will remember him from his supporting roles in Grandma’s Boy, Benchwarmers, and You Don’t Mess With The Zohan (he must be liked by the Sandler camp).
The network is apparently more than happy to add Swardson’s creativity to the growing camp of Comedy Central’s original programming. From The Hollywood Reporter:
“We love Nick at Comedy Central and even more importantly, our audience loves Nick,” said Comedy Central programming president Lauren Corrao.

The man might have terrible taste in comedy special titles, but it's helped him score on his own little corner of the TV dial.
Comedian Nick Swardson has scored his own sketch comedy series on Comedy Central. The show will hit the air next year and feature a lot of digital shorts and animation, some of which will be based on almost Python-esque "Gay Robot" character. Swardson and Adam Sandler actually shot a pilot for his "Gay Robot" character years ago and thanks to the magic of YouTube, you can also enjoy it. Warning: if you're easily offended by jokes of a sexual nature, please get over yourself and grow a sense of humor before watching it.

Comedy Central regular Nick Swardson has received his own sketch comedy series.
The weekly, half-hour sketch show will begin production next month and premiere next year.
"We love Nick at Comedy Central and even more importantly, our audience loves Nick," said Comedy Central programming president Lauren Corrao. "We've seen it in his movies, his stand-up, with his 'Reno 911!' character 'Terry,' and in the work he's done developing Gay Robot. We can't wait to expand his creative voice into a sketch series."
The series will include digital shorts, man-on-the-street segments and animation inspired by Swardson's online character, "Gay Robot" (about a robot and his frat-boy friends).
"I'm very excited to be working with Comedy Central," said Swardson. "They are great people who understand me creatively. They also are very good looking."
Exec producers include Swardson, Tom Gianas, Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Prods. and Sony Pictures TV.
