The Germans have never been noted for their screen comedies, especially ones about a man they'd rather forget: Hitler.

That fact makes "My Fuhrer" -- written and directed by Dani Levy, a Swiss-born Jew -- a rarity, but a flawed one.

The premise holds promise. It's the final week of 1944, and the war is going badly for Germany. Hitler is scheduled to address a million people on New Year's Day, but he's in a funk and isn't up to the task.
